Fanji Language
The Fanji language, ''Chuufiè'' (''chufieʼ''), is a Grassfields Bantu language and the language of the Bafanji people in the Northwest Region of Cameroon. There are approximately 17,000 speakers. The language has a rich system of tonal morphology, including reduplication involving adjectives. Bafanji speakers, who number 8,500, call their language ''Chuufi''. It is spoken south of Ndop in Ngoketunjia Department, Northwest Region. Gévrise Émane (born 27 July 1982) is a French judoka. She was the European champion in the women's 63 kg weight class. Emane first gained attention at the 2005 World Judo Championships in Cairo, Egypt where she won the silver medal in the women's 70 kg class. Next year, Emane won her first European title at the 2006 European Judo Championships in Tampere after an ippon in the final, against the German Heide Wollert. Emane became the world champion for the first time at the 2007 World Judo Championships in Rio de Janeiro by defeating Ronda Rousey of United States by points in the final match. Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (born 18 February 1984) is a French Cameroonian professional boxer. He has held a middleweight world championship twice, including the WBO title in 2012 and the WBA (Regular) title in 2017, and has challenged once for a super-middleweight world title in 2019. Amateur career N'dam N'Jikam won a silver medal in the middleweight division at the 2003 All-Africa Games, losing to Ramadan Yasser of Egypt in the final. Vencelas Dabaya Tientcheu (born 28 April 1981 in Kumba, Cameroon) is a French weightlifter. He is a former World Champion, European champion and Olympic silver medalist in weightlifting. At the 2004 Summer Olympics he represented Cameroon, and was flag bearer of the Cameroonian team at the opening ceremony. Calixthe Beyala (born 1961) is a Cameroonian-French writer who writes in French. Biography A Cameroonian author and member of the Eton people, Calixthe Beyala was born in Sa'a to Cameroonian parents. Her aunt and grandmother were particularly strong influences on her development, and she grew up listening to her grandmother's stories. Stories from which she drew inspiration and used to motivate her to work hard toward the creation of a meaningful career. Beyala was educated at the École Principale du Camp Mboppi in Douala and went on to study at the Lycée des Rapides à Bangui and the Lycée Polyvalent de Douala.
