Redd Davis
Redd Davis (1896–?) was a Canadian film director and producer who directed more than twenty films between 1932 and 1942. He was born in Canada in 1896, but he moved to Britain where he directed his first film ''The Spare Room'' in 1932. He worked mainly at Twickenham Studios in west London. In 1937 he directed '' Underneath the Arches'' his most successful film. The Cinematograph Films Act of 1927 ('' 17 & 18 Geo. V'') was an act of the United Kingdom Parliament designed to stimulate the declining British film industry. It received Royal Assent on 20 December 1927 and came into force on 1 April 1928. Description The act introduced a requirement for British cinemas to show a quota of British films for a duration of 10 years. Its supporters believed that it would promote the emergence of a vertically integrated film industry, with production, distribution and exhibition infrastructure controlled by the same companies. Wembley Studios
Fountain Studios was an independently owned television studio in Wembley Park, northwest London. The company was last part of the Avesco Group plc. Several companies owned the site before it was bought by Fountain in 1993. Originally a film studio complex, it was formerly the base for the ITV contractors Rediffusion from 1955 to 1968, and London Weekend Television from 1968 to 1972. More recently, the studios were best known for being the venue for the live stages of ITV shows ''The X Factor'' and ''Britain's Got Talent''. Billy Caryll
Billy Caryll and Hilda Mundy were a British husband-and-wife comedy duo who performed in variety shows and films, and on BBC radio, between the early 1920s and late 1940s. Careers Billy Caryll (born William Francis Clark; 23 December 1892 – 15 February 1953) was born in Southwark, London. In 1920, he married Hilda Madeline Mundy (14 June 1893 – 14 November 1968), also from London, and together they developed a popular sketch comedy act, starting in 1921. Inspired by a minor marital disagreement that they had had, Caryll took the role of a drunken husband and Mundy his domineering wife.
