CSN Houston
The Space City Home Network is an American regional sports network owned jointly by the Houston Rockets and Houston Astros. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the network broadcasts regional coverage of sports events throughout Southeast Texas, mainly focusing on professional sports teams based in Greater Houston, namely the Astros and Rockets, as well as local college teams. The channel went on the air in 2012 as Comcast SportsNet Houston under the ownership of Houston Regional Sports Network L.P., a joint venture with Comcast, DirecTV & AT&T along with the Astros and Rockets, after the closure of Fox Sports Houston. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. Comcast Sports Southwest (CSS) was an American regional sports network that served Greater Houston, Texas. It was owned by the NBC Sports Group unit of NBCUniversal. The channel was launched on September 1, 2009 and had a similar format to Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast, which launched ten years earlier. Both networks shared the same logo and focused primarily on collegiate and high school sports. The network showed live college football and basketball games, primarily from Conference USA, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Southeastern Conference. Several of the live football games feature the University of Houston and Rice University.
