Easterns Women's Cricket Team
The Easterns women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the South African region of East Rand. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. History Easterns Women first appeared in the 1997–98 season of the Caltrate Inter-Provincial Tournament, although the full results for the tournament are unrecorded. They have competed in every season of the tournament since, with their best finish coming in the 2017–18, when they qualified for the knockout rounds and finished 7th overall. In 2019–20, they finished top of their group in the competition, setting up a promotion play-off match against Border, but the match was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Border were promoted by virtue of their better group stage record. CSA Provincial Competitions
The CSA Provincial Competitions are three South African domestic cricket competitions run by Cricket South Africa (CSA). Three-day ( first-class) and one-day (List A) competitions were introduced for the 2004–05 season, while a Twenty20 competition was introduced for the 2011–12 season. The CSA competitions are predominantly contested by South African provincial teams, the number of which has been fixed at thirteen since the 2007–08 season. A non-South African team, Namibia, has competed since the 2006–07 season, while two invitational teams from Zimbabwe competed in the early seasons. Prior to the introduction of the CSA competitions, the South African provincial teams competed in the Sunfoil Series (better known as the Currie Cup) and the domestic one-day tournament (known under various names). Women's T20 Super League
The Women's T20 Super League is a women's domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Cricket South Africa. The tournament began in September 2019, with four teams taking part; these teams were renamed for a second competition in December 2019. The third competition took place in December 2020, which was won by Coronations. The competition took place again in December 2022, with no overall winner crowned due to the amount of matches abandoned due to rain. The tournament aims to give more game time and competition for South Africa's best women players, with players organised into teams and playing matches at the same ground over a weekend. 2016–17 CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition
The 2016–17 CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition was the 5th edition of South Africa's provincial Twenty20 cricket tournament. It ran from October 2016 to March 2017, with 16 provincial teams taking part. Western Province won the tournament, claiming their fourth T20 title and third in three seasons. Competition format The 16 teams were divided into three divisions: a top division named "Top 6", and two lower divisions, Pools A and B. Teams played each other team in their group once in a round-robin format, with matches played using a Twenty20 format. The winner of the Top 6 group was crowned Champions. The tournament ran concurrently with the 2016–17 CSA Women's Provincial League, with matches played either the day before or day after the corresponding encounter between two teams in the one-day tournament. The South Western Districts women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for part of the South African province of Western Cape. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. The Northerns women's cricket team, also known as Titans Ladies and previously known as Northern Transvaal women's cricket team, is the women's representative cricket team for the South African region of Tshwane. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme, which they have won three times, and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. The Northern Cape women's cricket team, previously known as Griqualand West women's cricket team, is the women's representative cricket team for the South African province of Northern Cape. The KwaZulu-Natal Inland women's cricket team, also known as the Hollywoodbets Tuskers, is the women's representative cricket team for part of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, based primarily in Pietermaritzburg.
