CP Football
Cerebral Palsy Football, also called ''7-a-side football'' or formerly ''Paralympic Football'', is an adaptation of association football for sportsperson, athletes with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders, including stroke and traumatic brain injury. From 1978 to 2014, cerebral palsy football was governed by the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA). In January 2015, governance of the sport was taken over by the International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football, under the umbrella of ''Para Football''. The sport is played with modified FIFA rules. Among the modifications are a reduced field of play, a reduction in the number of players, elimination of the offside (association football), offside rule, and permission for one-handed throw-ins. Cerebral Palsy International Sports And Recreation Association
The Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association ( CPISRA), a founding member of the Paralympic movement, was an international sports and recreation association for cerebral palsy and related neurological conditions. CPISRA organised recreational opportunities, developed adaptive sports and organised sport events for people with Cerebral Palsy and related neurological conditions. CPISRA was formed in 1969. It was made up of worldwide members and a community of volunteers including an advisory board, specialist committees and networks. In November 2022, CPISRA merged with IWAS (International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation) to form World Abilitysport. A throw-in is a method of restarting play in a game of association football when the whole of ball passes over the touchline. Australia Paralympic Soccer Team
The Australia men's national cerebral palsy soccer team represents Australia in international CP football, 7-a-side (CP) competitions. Officially nicknamed the Pararoos, the team is currently controlled by the governing body for soccer in Australia, Football Australia (FA), which are a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the regional ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). Since the team's foundation in 1998, they have represented Australia at the Paralympic Games, Paralympics on one occasion in 2000 and participated in nine International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football, IFCPF/Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association, CPISRA World Championships from 2001 to 2019. CP8 (classification)
CP8 is a disability sport classification specific to cerebral palsy. In many sports, it is grouped inside other classifications to allow people with cerebral palsy to compete against people with other different disabilities but deemed to have an equivalent level of functionality. CP8 classified competitors are the group who are least physically affected by their cerebral palsy, with their disability generally manifested as spasticity in at least one limb. There are a number of sports for which they are eligible to participate in, including alpine skiing, athletics, cycling, football, Nordic skiing, standing volleyball and swimming. In some of these sports, different classification systems or names for CP8 are used.
