COVID-19 Pandemic In Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan is the only remaining sovereign country in the world that has not reported any cases of COVID-19. There were no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Turkmenistan, with the totalitarian government being proactive in censoring relevant information. It is however suspected to have spread in the country unreported; specifics are difficult to ascertain and confirm in absence of independent media. As of 2025, there are still strict requirements including COVID tests to enter the country. 2020 developments Travel restrictions On 31 January 2020, Turkmenistan Airlines announced the suspension of flights to Bangkok and Beijing and organised charter flights for Turkmen citizens there. Coronavirus Disease 2019
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. In January 2020, the disease spread worldwide, resulting in the COVID-19 pandemic. The symptoms of COVID‑19 can vary but often include fever, fatigue, cough, breathing difficulties, loss of smell, and loss of taste. Türkmenabat
Türkmenabat (), formerly Amul, Cärjew/Chardzhou (until 1924 and from 1940-1999), and Novy Chardzhuy (from 1927-1940), is the second-largest city in Turkmenistan and the administrative centre of Lebap Province. , it had a population of approximately 231,000 people (up from 161,000 in the 1989 census).
