CNN International In Latin America
CNN International Latin America is the Latin American feed of CNN International subscription news network. It is mainly based in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.), but it also has regional offices in Mexico City, Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and São Paulo (Brazil). Prior to 1997, it also used to air some programming made in Spanish, mainly newscasts such as ''Las Noticias''. CNN (Cable News Network) is a multinational cable news channel headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. Founded in 1980 by American media proprietor Ted Turner and Reese Schonfeld as a 24-hour cable news channel, and presently owned by the Manhattan-based media conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN was the first television channel to provide 24-hour news coverage and the first all-news television channel in the United States. As of September 2018, CNN had 90.1 million television households as subscribers (97.7% of households with cable). CNN International carries news-related programming worldwide; it cooperates with sister network CNN's national and international news bureaus. CNN en Español is a Pan-American Spanish-language news channel, owned by CNN Global, a news division for Warner Bros. Discovery. It was launched on pay television, on 17 March 1997. History CNN en Español before 1997 In 1988, CNN began producing news in Spanish with ''Noticiero CNN'', aimed at Spanish-speaking audiences in the United States and Latin America. In 1992, CNN International started the ''Noticiero CNN Internacional'', the first in Spanish on that channel. Other programs in Spanish were ''Las Noticias'' and ''Noticias México'', all of them presented by the Colombian Patricia Janiot and the Uruguayan Jorge Gestoso, and with the direction of Rolando Santos.
