Club Social y Deportivo Xelajú Mario Camposeco, commonly known as Xelajú MC or just ''Xela'' and nicknamed ''Superchivos'' is a Guatemalan professional football club competing in the Liga Nacional, the top tier of Guatemalan football. They are located in Quetzaltenango, Department of Quetzaltenango, and play their home matches in the ''Estadio Mario Camposeco''. The Estadio Mario Camposeco is a football stadium located in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. It is the home to Liga Nacional club Xelajú (''Los Chivos''). It has a capacity of 11,220. Location The Mario Camposeco stadium is located at 14th Avenue and First Street in Zone 3. History The stadium opened on September 8 of 1950 as a venue dedicated to students, with the name ''Estadio Escolar''. In 1951 it was renamed to Estadio Escolar Mario Camposeco in memory of local athlete Mario Camposeco, who had died in a plane crash the year before while still active and who played football for Xelajú MC and the Guatemala national team. The UNCAF Interclub Cup was an annual international football competition held in the Union Centroamericana de Fútbol, UNCAF region (Central America). The competition was open to the leading domestic club teams in the region. The winners of each national league qualified automatically. It also provided qualification places for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, to which the top three teams advanced. Starting in 2008, all of the Central American nations have one or two teams qualifying directly to the expanded CONCACAF Champions League, thus this tournament ceased to be played. The tournament had been known as the ''Copa Fraternidad Centroamericana'' from 1971 to 1983. It was discontinued between 1983 and 1996, when it was revived as the ''Torneo Grandes de Centroamerica''. The 1997 CONCACAF Champions' Cup was the 33rd edition of the annual international club football competition, the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. It determined that year's club champion of the CONCACAF region (North America, Central America and the Caribbean). The teams were split into three zones (North, Central and Caribbean). The North American zone qualified three teams direct into the quarterfinals and two teams played a play-off for the fourth spot in the quarterfinals. The Central American zone played a regional tournament to get three spots in the quarterfinal.
