C.B.S. Sexton Street
CBS Sexton Street (also referred to as Coláiste MhichÃl) is a Christian Brothers secondary school located in Limerick, Ireland. The school has approximately 340 students. The current principal is Denis O'Connor, and the current vice principal is Rob Williams. History Coláiste MhichÃl was founded by Edmund Rice, a Christian Brother, to provide education for boys in Limerick city. Their numbers having declined, the Christian Brothers no longer have day-to-day involvement in the administration of the school. Instead, a lay principal and board of management manage the school with the Christian Brothers remaining as trustees. The school has been successful in soccer, having won the senior boys' FAI All Ireland soccer championship in 2007 and 2008. In 2012, the school were national runners-up, having lost the final to St Aidans, Cork. The Congregation of Christian Brothers (; abbreviated CFC) is a worldwide religious community within the Catholic Church, founded by Edmund Ignatius Rice, Edmund Rice. Their first school opened in Waterford, Ireland in 1802. Willie Moore (Limerick Hurler)
William Moore (born 1950) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Limerick senior hurling team. Moore made his first appearance for the team during the 1971 championship and became a regular player over the next few seasons. During that time he won one All-Ireland winners' medal and back-to-back Munster winners' medals. At club level Moore enjoyed a lengthy career with Doon, however, he ended his career without claiming a county club championship winners' medal. Playing career Club Moore played his club hurling with his local Doon club. Inter-county Moore first came to prominence as a member of the Limerick senior inter-county team in the early 1970s. Pat Fleury
Patrick "Pat" Fleury (born 18 May 1956) is an Irish former Hurling, hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Offaly GAA, Offaly senior hurling team. Born in Drumcullen, County Offaly, Fleury first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Presentation Brothers College in Birr, County Offaly, Birr. He arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Offaly minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1975 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1975 championship. Fleury later became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medals and four Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, Leinster medals. Éamonn Cregan
Éamonn Cregan (born 21 May 1945) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer, hurler and manager. He is best remembered for his success with Limerick, as a player in the 1970s and then as manager of various club and inter-county teams in the 1980s and 1990s. Cregan was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame in 2013. Playing career Club Cregan played his club hurling and football with his local club in Claughaun and enjoyed much success. He won his first senior county title with the club in 1968 and added a second three years later in 1971. Cregan won a third and final county medal in 1986. Dermot Kelly (hurler)
Dermot Noel Kelly (25 December 1932 – 22 February 2023) was an Irish hurler. He lined out at club level with Claughaun and also played at inter-county level with Limerick. Career Kelly first played hurling as a schoolboy with CBS Sexton Street in the Harty Cup. He later lined out as a dual player with the Claughaun club and won three Limerick SHC medals and two Limerick SFC medals. Kelly first appeared on the inter-county scene with Limerick during a two-year stint with the minor team in 1949 and 1950. He immediately progressed on the senior team in 1951. Kelly enjoyed his greatest success with Limerick when he scored 1–12 to beat Clare in the 1955 Munster final. He continued to line out with Limerick until 1959. Kelly also earned selection to the Munster team and won four Railway Cup medals in six seasons. Karl Spain (born 20 October 1971) is an Irish people, Irish comedian from Limerick. He is from the Corbally area of the city and was educated at CBS Sexton Street. In 2000, Spain won the RTÉ award for Best New Act. Spain appeared at the Montreal ''Just for Laughs'' comedy festival in 2003, which was later repeated on RTÉ Television. He is a regular at the Cat Laughs, Kilkenny Cat Laughs comedy festival. ''Diarmuid Scully (born 25 January 1972) is a member of Limerick City Council and former Mayor of Limerick. He was a member of the Fine Gael party, but has retired from active politics. Born in Limerick, Diarmuid Scully was educated at St Patrick's Boys National School in the city and later CBS Sexton Street. He graduated from the University of Limerick with a degree in Business Studies. After leaving university, Scully worked for five years as a technical support supervisor with Sykes Enterprises at their offices in Shannon.
