Bulgarian Turks In Turkey
The Bulgarian Turks in Turkey represent a community of Bulgarian Turks who immigrated over the years from Bulgaria to Turkey. They are notable in Turkey for being descendants of Balkan Turks who had to escape persecution. And moreover, part of them continue to be dual citizens of Bulgaria and Turkey, which makes them a natural bridge between the two countries. Origins Bulgarian Turks are descendants of Asian settlers who came across the narrows of the Dardanelles and the Bosporus following the Ottoman conquest of the Balkans in the late 14th and early 15th centuries, as well as Bulgarian converts to Islam who became Turkified during the centuries of Ottoman rule in Bulgaria. Cuman
The Cumans or Kumans were a Turkic nomadic people from Central Asia comprising the western branch of the Cuman–Kipchak confederation who spoke the Cuman language. They are referred to as Polovtsians (''Polovtsy'') in Rus' chronicles, as "Cumans" in Western sources, and as " Kipchaks" in Eastern sources. Related to the Pecheneg, they inhabited a shifting area north of the Black Sea and along the Volga River known as Cumania, from which the Cuman–Kipchaks meddled in the politics of the Caucasus and the Khwarazmian Empire. Gülhan Şen
Gülhan Şen (born July 16, 1978) is a -Bulgarian-Turkish television presenter, producer and speaker. Biography Gülhan Şen was born in Shumen, Bulgaria and completed primary school there. In 1985, her name changed to ''Galina Hristova Mihaylova'' due to a compulsory name change law, and a compulsory immigration law applied to Turks brought her to Turkey in 1989. Şen graduated from Muhsin Adil Binal Secondary School and Kabataş High School in Turkey, and studied radio and television at Istanbul University Communication Faculty. Ali Osman Sönmez
Ali Osman Sönmez (1926 – 12 October 2001) was a Turkish politician and businessperson. Life and career Ali Osman Sönmez, who was born in Momchilgrad in Bulgaria in 1926, stayed in Greece for 7 years after completing his primary and secondary education. He moved to Turkey in 1948 and settled in İnegöl district. He worked as a civil servant in the Tekel administration, and then went into business for himself. He was the President of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Chairman of the Union of Chambers Council, the Chairman of the Sönmez Holding Board of Directors, and the 20th Term Deputy for Bursa. Åžaziye Moral
Şaziye Moral (1903 – 9 April 1985) was a Turkish female stage and film actress and voice acting, voice actress. She was the second Muslim stage actress in Turkey. Early years Şaziye Moral was born to Bulgarian Turks, ethnic Turkish parents in Kardzali, Bulgaria in 1903. Her mother died during her birth, and her father died after a couple of years.
