Amesbury or Brookhaven-Amesbury is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood is located in northern Toronto in the former suburb of North York. It is part of federal and provincial electoral district York South—Weston, and Toronto electoral wards 11: York South—Weston (West) and 12: York South—Weston (East). Character Its borders are inexact. It is usually assumed to lie between Lawrence Avenue on the north, Jane Street and the railway line adjacent to Weston Road (which includes land west of Jane) on the west, Keele Street on the east, and a hydro right of way, which also marks the southern border of North York, on the south. The area west of Jane Street is known as Brookhaven. The City of Toronto's demographic page refers to that area as Brookhaven-Amesbury, but omits the area north of Lawrence Avenue, and includes the largely industrial area between Keele Street and the railway. Brookhaven, formerly North Atlanta, is a city in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta that is located in western DeKalb County, Georgia, United States, directly northeast of Atlanta. On July 31, 2012, Brookhaven was approved in a referendum to become DeKalb County's 11th city. Incorporation officially took place on December 17, 2012, on which date municipal operations commenced. Brookhaven/Oglethorpe (MARTA Station)
Brookhaven/Oglethorpe (originally Brookhaven and signed Brookhaven/Oglethorpe Univ. on station signs) is a subway station in Brookhaven, Georgia, on the Gold Line of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) rail system. An elevated station, it is located one mile south of Oglethorpe University. The station provides connecting bus service to North Druid Hills, Toco Hills, North DeKalb Mall, the Peachtree Boulevard business district, and the Georgia Department of Labor. South of this station, the line crosses into Fulton County. In the 2010s, the station was planned to become a "city center" for Brookhaven on the property composed of mixed use, office, retail, civic and public space. The plan was canceled in 2017. Brookhaven is a city in Lincoln County, Mississippi, United States, south of the state capital of Jackson. The population was 11,674 people at the 2020 U.S. Census. It is the county seat of Lincoln County. It was named after the town of Brookhaven, New York, by founder Samuel Jayne in 1818. History Brookhaven is located in what was formerly territory of the Choctaw. The city was founded in 1818 by Samuel Jayne from New York, who named it after the town of Brookhaven on Long Island. Most of the Choctaw were forced out of Mississippi in the 1830s under Indian Removal, and were given lesser land in Indian Territory. The railroad was constructed through Brookhaven in 1858. Brookhaven is a neighborhood in a small pocket of Southwest Fresno (the "West Side") located on the very edge of the city. It is bordered by Jensen Avenue on the north, Annadale Avenue on the south, Martin Luther King on the west Ivy on the east. History Due to recurring attacks in the area by local gangs, the area had become known as "Dogpound". On September 18, 2007, as part of on-going efforts to reclaim the neighborhood, the Fresno City Council voted to officially name the neighborhood Brookhaven.
