Bounkani
Bounkani Region is one of the 31 regions of Ivory Coast. Since its establishment in 2011, it has been one of two regions in Zanzan District. The seat of the region is Bouna and the region's population in the 2021 census was 427,037. Nassian Department is a department of Bounkani Region in Zanzan District, Ivory Coast. In 2021, its population was 71,724 and its seat is the settlement of Nassian. Bouna, Ivory Coast
Bouna (also spelled Buna) is a town in north-eastern Ivory Coast. It is a sub-prefecture of and the seat of Bouna Department. It is also the seat of Bounkani Region in Zanzan District and a commune. Near Bouna is the Comoé National Park and the Ghanaian border. The main town of the Lobi people, Bouna is known for the vernacular architecture of the fortress-style adobe compounds in surrounding villages. The town is served by its own dirt-runway airport. Regions Of Ivory Coast
The regions of Ivory Coast () are the second-level subdivisions of Ivory Coast. There are 31 regions, and each region is subdivided into two or more departments of Ivory Coast, departments, the third-level division in Ivory Coast. Tuo Fozié
Tuo Fozié is an Ivorian military officer and politician. Since 2012, he has been the prefect of both Bounkani Region and Bouna Department in north-eastern Ivory Coast. As an officer in the Ivorian army, Fozié was a central supporter of the 1999 coup d'état that led to Robert Guéï being installed as interim head of state until the next elections. When Guéï decided to run for president in the election, Fozié dropped his support, and he participated in the September 2000 attack on Guéï's residence. Fozié was charged with crimes against the security of the state and he went into exile in Burkina Faso. In 2002, Fozié returned to Ivory Coast and was a central supporter of an attempted coup, which ultimately developed into the First Ivorian Civil War. Fozié was a commander in the rebel Forces Nouvelles de Côte d'Ivoire, but he refused to accept any promotions beyond that of warrant officer, the office he held in the state army.
