Bookkeeping is the recording of financial transactions, and is part of the process of accounting in business and other organizations. It involves preparing source documents for all transactions, operations, and other events of a business. Transactions include purchases, sales, receipts and payments by an individual person, organization or corporation. There are several standard methods of bookkeeping, including the single-entry and double-entry bookkeeping systems. While these may be viewed as "real" bookkeeping, any process for recording financial transactions is a bookkeeping process. The person in an organisation who is employed to perform bookkeeping functions is usually called the bookkeeper (or book-keeper). Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli, Order of Friars Minor, O.F.M. (sometimes ''Paccioli'' or ''Paciolo''; 1447 – 19 June 1517) was an Italian mathematician, Order of Friars Minor, Franciscan friar, collaborator with Leonardo da Vinci, and an early contributor to the field now known as accounting. He is referred to as the father of accounting and bookkeeping and he was the first person to publish a work on the Double-entry bookkeeping system, double-entry system of book-keeping on the continent. He was also called Luca di Borgo after his birthplace, Sansepolcro, Borgo Sansepolcro, Tuscany. Life Luca Pacioli was born between 1446 and 1448 in the Tuscan town of Sansepolcro where he received an Abacus school, abbaco education. Accounts payable (AP) is money owed by a business to its suppliers shown as a liability on a company's balance sheet. It is distinct from notes payable liabilities, which are debts created by formal legal instrument documents. Depreciation
