American Skier
American Skier boats (not to be confused with Correct Crafts American Skier) was a tournament boat company founded by Ken Elkind. Elkind of North Miami Beach, Florida, United States, in 1975. Mr. Elkind, after retiring from the offshore racing circuits, became interested in the water skiing business. In the early 1980s American Skier became one of the first tournament boat companies to be approved for competition by the American Water Ski Association. The first 18' Skiers came out as 1976 models from a shop in Opa Locka Florida. In the early 1990s WESMAR took over ownership. They built the 1991-95 models in Ocoee, Florida, Ocoee, Florida, moved it to Cape Coral, Florida, and moved it again, this time to Giddings, Texas. Ron Tanis purchased the company in 1995 and moved the molds from Giddings to Winnsboro, Louisiana. Cobalt Boats
Cobalt Boats is an American manufacturer of recreational motorboats. It was founded in 1968 and operated independently until its acquisition by Malibu Boats in 2017. Company profile Founded in 1968 by Pack St. Clair in Neodesha, Kansas, Cobalt Boats manufactured "high-end speedboats", specifically "small cruisers and runabouts", and "mid- to large-sized sterndrive boats", thereafter expanding "into the surf and outboard markets", and larger family cruisers. Jeanneau
Jeanneau is a French boatyard in Les Herbiers, in the Vendée département, which has produced yachts since 1957. It was founded by Henri Jeanneau, a hardware store owner, who began by producing power boats. Jeanneau specializes in monohulls, but it created a specialist multihull line, Lagoon catamarans. Jeanneau (and Lagoon) became part of Groupe Beneteau in 1995. History Henri Jeanneau's first boats in 1957 were wooden outboard motor-powered dinghy designs. He quickly moved to producing boats from fiberglass and by 1960 his motorboats, including the Jeanneau Sea-bird, were made from this new material, followed by the first sailboats in 1964. In 1970 the company was purchased by the American conglomerate, Bangor Punta. By mid-1980 the company was sold again and became part of Chatellier SA. Jade Yachts
Jade Yachts is a Taiwanese yacht manufacturer headquartered in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It is a subsidiary of the Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Company. History Jade Yachts was founded in 2004 as a subsidiary of the Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Company specializing in steel and aluminum yachts. In 2006 the yard delivered the 26.46-metre ''Bandido'', which was the first steel-hulled motor yacht ever built in Taiwan. In 2014 the company created a floating pavilion for the Taiwan International Boat Show. In 2016 the yard gave the 65 m Benetti ''Ambrosia III'' its 10-year refit. ICON Yachts is a Dutch shipbuilding company headquartered in Harlingen, Netherlands. ICON Yachts is a highly specialized shipyard for yacht conversion and refit projects, which has established a leading position in the sector of Explorer yachts and purpose vessels. Since 2021, Mr. Micca Ferrero, a prominent Swiss businessman, has owned the ICON Yachts group. The shipyard The shipyard is located outside the historic port of Harlingen and it has unrestricted open-water access from locks and bridges. The yard facilities include a 150 x 33m covered and heated dry dock with a 7.5m maximum draft and a 90m long floating dock. Horizon Yachts
Horizon Yacht (often referred to as Horizon Yachts) is a Taiwanese yacht manufacturer headquartered in the city of Kaohsiung. In 2018 Horizon was the tenth largest yacht builder in the world by total feet of yacht delivered. History Horizon Yacht was founded in 1987 by John Lu, Gong Shan Chiai, and Cheng Shun Hui in Kaohsiung. Founded to supply yachts to domestic and American buyers, the company began targeting the European, Australian, and Asian markets in 1989. In the late 2010s expansion of Taiwan's domestic yachting market was beginning to allow Horizon to fulfill its original intention of selling domestically. In 2019 they infused the hull and stiffeners of a 43m composite yacht in a single shot using vacuum infusion technology and proprietary 3D resin flow. Herbert Woods
Herbert Woods (3 February 1891 – 18 April 1954) was an English boat builder and mooring developer from Potter Heigham, Norfolk. Early life Woods was born to a family of boat builders in Brundall in 1891. He started his career as an apprentice at the Norfolk Broads Yachting Company upon leaving school in 1907. The company was then managed by his father, Walter Woods. Following the outbreak of World War I, Woods was spared from active service as a result of a chronic neck problem. During this time, he worked in aerodynamics at agricultural machinery maker Ransomes, Sims & Jefferies, based in Ipswich, Suffolk. Woods returned to Norfolk in 1922, after the Norfolk Broads Yachting Company had gone into liquidation. His father, Walter, purchased the premises and enlisted the help of Herbert and his brother to build the family company, Walter Woods & Sons. Glastron
Glastron is a boat manufacturing company and was one of the first manufacturers of fiberglass boats. Glastron is owned by Rec Boat Holdings, a subsidiary of Groupe Beneteau. Bob Hammond, Bill Gaston, Bob Shoop, and Guy Woodard founded the company on October 14, 1956, in Austin, Texas. It was sold to Genmar Holdings in the 1990s and manufacturing was moved to Minnesota. Glastron is known for its boat hull design innovations, including the Aqualift and "SSV" hull designs, the latter of which is still in use today. Glastron's "Glastonbury" boats were featured in the James Bond films ''Live and Let Die (film), Live and Let Die'' and Moonraker. For ''Live and Let Die'', a boat chase was filmed in Louisiana around the Irish Bayou area. Twenty-six boats were built by Glastron for the film, of which seventeen were destroyed during rehearsals.
