Blackrock College RFC
Blackrock College Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club located in Blackrock, Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club was founded in 1882 by former pupils of Blackrock College. Their senior team currently plays in 2024–25 All-Ireland League (rugby union)#Division 1B, Division 1B of the All-Ireland League (rugby union), All-Ireland League Blackrock College RFC was founded in 1882 making it one of the oldest senior rugby clubs in Ireland. While it bears the name and is closely affiliated to the school at Williamstown, it is a very open local club. The club fields adult men’s and women’s teams, under 20s and has a mini and youth section, all of whom are involved in the various competitions throughout Leinster. The men’s senior adult team in Blackrock College RFC is in division 1B of the AIL. The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) () is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland (both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland). Brian Gerard O'Driscoll (born 21 January 1979) is an Irish former professional rugby union player. He played at outside Centre (rugby union), centre for the Irish provincial team Leinster Rugby, Leinster and for Ireland national rugby union team, Ireland. Alain Rolland
Alain Colm Pierre Rolland (born 22 August 1966) is a former Ireland rugby union international and rugby union referee. He also played for Leinster. He refereed the final of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and was an assistant referee in the final of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. In September 2013 he announced his intention to retire from refereeing at the end of the 2013/14 season. Playing career During his playing days as a scrum-half, Rolland earned three caps for . Brendan Mullin
Brendan John Mullin (born Jerusalem, 31 October 1963) is a former Ireland international rugby union football player. He played as a centre and has been described as "one of the last great Irish players of rugby’s amateur era". After retirement from rugby, Mullin worked for Powerscourt Investments. He subsequently joined Bank of Ireland. He was arrested in 2021 and, after a lengthy investigation, brought to court in October 2024 to face charges relating to the theft of more than €570,000 from the bank. He was found guilty in November 2024 and jailed for three years. Early life Mullin spent his early life in Jerusalem, Israel and attended secondary school in Blackrock College, Dublin. Leo Francis Matthew Cullen (born 9 January 1978) is an Irish people, Irish Rugby football, rugby Coach (sport), coach and former professional rugby union player. Hugo MacNeill (rugby Union)
Hugh Patrick MacNeill (born 16 September 1958), commonly known as Hugo MacNeill, is a former rugby union player who played for Ireland, Leinster, the French Barbarians and the British and Irish Lions during the 1980s. During the late 1970s he also played Football for University College Dublin and Dublin University. After retiring from sport, MacNeill went on to serve as a Managing Director for Goldman Sachs. Luke Fitzgerald
Luke Matthew Fitzgerald (born 13 September 1987) is a former rugby union player. He played at Wing (rugby union), winger or Fullback (rugby union), fullback for Leinster Rugby, Leinster. He retired in June 2016. Having previously studied at Blackrock College he won two Leinster Schools Senior Cups, in 2004 and 2006. He won his first cap for Ireland national rugby union team, Ireland in November 2006. Ray McLoughlin
Raymond John McLoughlin (21 August 1939 – 20 November 2021) was an Irish rugby union international who was capped 40 times at prop, an Irish record at the time. He began at tight head, moving to the open side on his return to the Ireland team in 1971 after a five-year absence. McLoughlin captained his country on seven occasions. He was selected for two test series with the British Lions and played for invitational tourists the Barbarians. McLoughlin also had a long career at club and provincial level, representing Connacht. Neil Francis (rugby Union)
Neil Francis is a retired Irish rugby union lock forward and number eight. He played club rugby for Blackrock College, London Irish, Old Belvedere and provincially for Leinster. Francis also earned 36 caps for Ireland between 1987 and 1996 and competed in three rugby world cups in 1987, 1991 and 1995 respectively. Guy Easterby
Guy Easterby (born 21 March 1971) is a former rugby union player for Ireland. He is currently head of rugby operations of Leinster. His father is English and his mother is Irish. He is the brother of Simon Easterby, also an Ireland international and the most capped back-rower to come from Yorkshire. Easterby made his senior Ireland debut against the United States on 10 June 2000 and marked the occasion by scoring two tries in a record 83–3 victory. Easterby made his test debut in the same year as Peter Stringer but always trailed the Munster scrum-half in the Irish pecking order. 21 out of his 27 appearances before the 2005 Six Nations Championship were made as a substitute. Willie Duggan
William Patrick Duggan (12 March 1950 – 28 August 2017) was an Irish international rugby union player. He won 41 Irish caps, the first in 1975 and finished his international career in 1984 as captain. He toured New Zealand in 1977 with the British and Irish Lions, and at the time played club rugby for Blackrock College RFC, after commencing his career with Sunday's Well RFC in Cork.
