Big Bash League
The Big Bash League (BBL), also known as the KFC Big Bash League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in Australia. Established in 2011 by Cricket Australia, the Big Bash League replaced the previous competition, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and features eight city-based franchises instead of the six state teams which had participated previously. The competition has been sponsored by fast food chicken outlet KFC since its inception. It was in 2016/17 one of the two T20 cricket leagues, alongside the Indian Premier League, to feature amongst the top ten domestic sport leagues in average attendance. The winner of BBL 14 (2024/2025) was the Hobart Hurricanes, who beat the Sydney Thunder by 7 wickets in the final. BBL matches are played in Australia during the summer, from December to February. Hobart Hurricanes are an Australian professional men's Twenty20 franchise cricket team based in Hobart, Tasmania. They compete in Australia's domestic Big Bash League. The Hurricanes play the majority of their home matches at Ninja Stadium in Hobart, with additional home matches at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston and at TIO Traeger Park in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. The 2015–16 Big Bash League season (BBL, 05) was the fifth season of the Big Bash League (BBL), the top-class Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The tournament ran from 17 December 2015 to 24 January 2016. The title was won by Sydney Thunder, who defeated Melbourne Stars by three wickets in the final to claim their first title. Perth Scorchers, who had been seeking a third successive title, lost to the Stars in the semi-final, failing to reach the final fr the first time. KFC Twenty20 Big Bash
The KFC Twenty20 Big Bash was a domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The competition was organised by Cricket Australia, and sponsored by fast food chicken outlet KFC. Running over six seasons from 2005–06 to 2010–11, the Twenty20 Big Bash was the first top level domestic Twenty20 competition in Australia, contested by the six traditional Sheffield Shield state cricket teams.
