Bethel University is a private Christian university in Mishawaka, Indiana, United States. It was established in 1947 and is affiliated with the evangelical Christian Missionary Church. Organization and administration Bethel is a part of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and the Council of Independent Colleges. It is regionally accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. Bethel University is a private Baptist Christian university and seminary in Arden Hills, Minnesota, United States. It was founded in 1871 as a seminary and is affiliated with Converge. The university enrolls 5,600 students in undergraduate, graduate, and seminary programs. Its main campus is situated on about 290 acres on the east side of Lake Valentine just south of Interstate 694. History Bethel University has its origins in the Baptist Theological Union's Swedish Seminary ("Baptist Union Theological Seminary"), which was founded by Swedish Baptist pastor John Alexis Edgren in Chicago, Illinois in 1871. Edgren was a former mariner and Civil War veteran originally from Ostana, Sweden, and founded the school as a place for Swedish Baptists to enter the ministry. Bethel University (Tennessee)
Bethel University is a private Cumberland Presbyterian-affiliated university in McKenzie, Tennessee with satellite campuses in Jackson, and Paris. It is accredited to award degrees up to the master's level. History Founding in McLemoresville Bethel Seminary was founded in 1842 in McLemoresville, Tennessee, and renamed to Bethel College in 1847. The seminary was overseen by the West Tennessee Synod of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, who also oversaw 82 other schools at varying points in its own history. In 1851, the West Tennessee Synod founded a Theology Department at the school. This was prompted by other schools attempting to start theology departments in order to acquire more support from church leadership. The school closed in 1861 due to the start of the American Civil War. The building were used as barracks by both the American and Confederate armies during the conflict. Shorter College is a Private college, private, Historically black colleges and universities, historically black, liberal arts junior college in North Little Rock, Arkansas. It is one of the few private historically black junior college in the United States. Shorter College was founded in 1886 as Bethel University by the Twelfth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church. The college is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools and offers associate degrees through its six programs.
