Stansgate Escutcheon
Steeple is a village on the Dengie Peninsula in Essex, England. It is situated just east of Maylandsea and Mayland, on the southern side of the River Blackwater estuary. A hamlet, within the village of Steeple, on the banks of the River Blackwater is called Stansgate. Amenities The village has no shops, but does have a pub called The Star, which has a serviced touring field to the rear with 40 pitches as well as four rooms for visitors. Steeple Church The original parish church of St Lawrence, located west of the present building, was destroyed by fire. The current church was built in the centre of the village re-using some materials from the old church. On the west side of the village, there is a former chapel building of the Peculiar People, built in 1877. Stephen Benn, 3rd Viscount Stansgate
Stephen Michael Wedgwood Benn, 3rd Viscount Stansgate (born 21 August 1951), is a British hereditary peer and Labour member of the House of Lords. Early life and education Stansgate's father, Tony Benn, and his younger brother, Hilary Benn, have both been senior Labour politicians. His mother was Caroline Benn, an educationalist and writer, and his sister is Melissa Benn, a feminist writer. He was educated at Holland Park School from 1962 to 1968 and at Keele University, where he was awarded a doctorate (PhD) in 1984 for a thesis entitled "The White House Staff". Career Stansgate was an elected member of the Inner London Education Authority from 1986 to 1990. In 2011, he was appointed director of parliamentary affairs for the Society of Biology after spending two decades in a similar role for the Royal Society of Chemistry. Dame Margaret Taylor Rutherford (11 May 1892 – 22 May 1972) was an English actress of stage, film and television. Rutherford came to national attention following World War II in the film adaptations of Noël Coward's ''Blithe Spirit (1945 film), Blithe Spirit'', and Oscar Wilde's ''The Importance of Being Earnest (1952 film), The Importance of Being Earnest''. William Rutherford Benn
William Rutherford Benn, later William Rutherford, (1855–1921) was an English translator and journalist, and a member of the political Benn family. In 1883 he murdered his father, the Reverend Julius Benn, and was detained at Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum until 1890, returning there in 1903 and receiving treatment until his death. Melissa Ann Benn (born 1957) is a British journalist and writer. She is known for her support of comprehensive education and criticism of many aspects of government policy on education. Benn setup the Local Schools Network in 2010, a pro-state schools pressure group. Hilary James Wedgwood Benn (born 26 November 1953) is a British politician who has served as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland since 2024. A member of the Labour Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leeds South, formerly Leeds Central, since 1999. Emily Sophia Wedgwood Benn (born 4 October 1989) is an English politician, who has represented the Ward of Bread Street on the Court of Common Council of the City of London since 2022.
