; ) is a large former mining village (and electoral ward) situated within the South Wales Valleys Davies (2008), page 507. around from Llantrisant and from the larger town of Pontypridd in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. Governance Beddau was also the name of a county borough electoral ward within the Llantrisant community, bordered to the east by the Tyn-y-nant ward, which included Tynant. The Beddau ward elected a county councillor to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. Apart from 2008 to 2012, when the ward elected an Independent councillor, the ward has been represented by the Labour Party. Beddau RFC
Beddau Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the village of Beddau, South Wales. The present club was formed in 1951–52, but it can trace its roots to around 1900. Beddau RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for Cardiff Blues. History Beddau had a village rugby team from around 1900 until the Second World War. During the war all the club's records were destroyed apart from a few remaining photographs of Beddau RFC teams from the late 1930s. Beddau RFC was reformed in 1951-52 and has since been based in Castellau Road, Beddau. The club plays at Mount Pleasant Park, Beddau. Today Today, Beddau RFC plays in the Welsh Championship, WRU Championship. In the 2006–07 season, Beddau RFC won the Division One East League, but were denied promotion to the Premier League as their grounds were deemed not to meet WRU criteria. Beddau Halt Railway Station
Beddau Halt railway station was a railway station at Beddau, Rhondda Cynon Taf Rhondda Cynon Taf (; RCT; also spelt as Rhondda Cynon Taff) is a Principal areas of Wales, county borough in the South East Wales, south-east of Wales. It consists of five valleys: the Rhondda Fawr, Rhondda Fach, Cynon, Taff () and Ely valleys, ..., Wales. It consisted of a single platform and shelter reached by steps leading from the road over which the line crossed. Its position was quite a distance from Beddau which limited its patronage, though all trains stopped at the station as a matter of course. Modern Day The station site exists on the mothballed Pontyclun-Cwm Colliery line over which trains ran regularly until 1984. While some railway infrastructure still exists such as the sleepers no trace of the platform is evident. Angela Hui (writer)
Angela Hui (born 1991) is a Welsh journalist and author. Her memoir ''Takeaway: Stories from a Childhood Behind the Counter'' (2022) was shortlisted for the 2023 Jhalak Prize. Early life Hui was born 1991 in Beddau, a Welsh former mining village next to Pontypridd, to a father from Sai Kung and a mother from Shenzhen. Her parents had left Hong Kong for Britain in 1985, working at Chinese takeaways in Bournemouth, Reading, and London before settling in Beddau, where they opened their own takeaway called Lucky Star in 1988. It operated out of a converted terrace house on Commercial Street, and Hui lived above the shop with her two older brothers and helped out from the age of 8. Their relatives also opened takeaways in Pontlottyn, Bargoed and Blackwood. Hui graduated from the University of Glamorgan in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Journalism. Pontyclun Railway Station
Pontyclun railway station is an unstaffed, minor railway station in Pontyclun, in the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, South Wales. The station is at street level, on Station Approach, Pontyclun. It is a stop on the South Wales Main Line, served by trains on the Maesteg Line, and occasionally by the Swanline Cardiff to Swansea regional services, as well as one early-morning daily service to Manchester and a late-night daily service to Carmarthen. The station and all trains are operated by Transport for Wales Rail. It is from the zero point at London Paddington, measured via Stroud. The station was rebuilt and reopened under British Rail as Pontyclun on 28 September 1992.
