Bankenviertel (; ''banking quarter'') is the name of the central business district in Frankfurt, Germany where many banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions are located. It is the most important German financial hub, if not one of the largest in Europe along with La Défense in the Paris aire urbaine and London's City of London, City and Canary Wharf. Having no official or strict borders, it is commonly defined as the western part of the Innenstadt (Frankfurt am Main), Innenstadt, the southern part of the Westend (Frankfurt am Main), Westend and the eastern part of the Bahnhofsviertel (Frankfurt am Main), Bahnhofsviertel. Opernplatz
The Opernplatz (Opera Square) is a central city square in Frankfurt, Germany, located in the district of Innenstadt (Inner City) and within the central business district known as the Bankenviertel (Banking District). The Opernplatz is the most central square of the Bankenviertel. It is named for the Alte Oper (Old Opera) building, which today serves as a concert hall. The Sofitel Frankfurt Opera hotel is located at Opernplatz 14. The Opera Quarter with some of Germany's most well known luxury shopping streets is located to the east of Opernplatz. Alte Oper
Alte Oper (Old Opera) is a concert hall in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany. It is located in the inner city, Innenstadt, within the banking district Bankenviertel. Today's Alte Oper was built in 1880 as the city's opera house, which was destroyed by bombs in 1944. It was rebuilt in the 1970s as a concert hall with a large hall and smaller venues, opened in 1981. The square in front of the building is still known as Opernplatz (Opera Square). Many important works were performed for the first time when it was Frankfurt's opera house, including Schreker's '' Der ferne Klang'' and Carl Orff's '' Carmina Burana'' in 1937. The Oper Frankfurt now plays in the Opern- und Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, completed in 1951. Innenstadt (Frankfurt Am Main)
The Innenstadt (''inner city'') is the central city district of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is part of the '' Ortsbezirk Innenstadt I''. Its western part forms part of Frankfurt's central business district, the Bankenviertel. Germany's most expensive shopping streets and real estate are found within the city district. The Innenstadt stretches in the north and east round the district of Altstadt. Other adjacent districts to the west are Bahnhofsviertel, in the north west the Westend, Nordend to the north and Ostend to the east. In the south, the Innenstadt is bordered naturally by the Main on the opposite bank of which stands the Applewine quarter known as Sachsenhausen. Westend (Frankfurt Am Main)
Westend-Nord and Westend-Süd are two city districts of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The division into a northern and a southern part is mostly for administrative purposes as the Westend () is generally considered an entity. Main Tower is a 56-storey, skyscraper in the Innenstadt (Frankfurt am Main), Innenstadt district of Frankfurt, Germany. It is named after the nearby Main (river), Main river. Mainzer Landstraße
The Mainzer Landstraße is one of the main arterial roads in Frankfurt am Main, running west from the city centre to the outlying suburbs of the city. The road runs largely parallel with the River Main along its northern bank, and at in length is Frankfurt's second longest road. History The road was built between 1746 and 1750 as part of the longer route between Frankfurt and Mainz.
