BC Dynamo Moscow
MBC Dynamo Moscow () was a Russian basketball team from Moscow. It was active for 93 years (from 1923 until 2016) as professional club, before being dissolved due to financial problems. The club had several successful years in the highest division in Russian basketball. In 2006, Dynamo won a continental trophy in the Eurocup. History Early years Created in 1923 when Russia was part of the Soviet Union, Dynamo was among the oldest sports clubs in the country. Its name was chosen because Dynamo means 'power in motion'. The club was backed by the State Political Directorate (GPU), a police apparatus of the USSR. That is why the team has always been thought of as the police club, while cross-town rival CSKA Moscow was the army club. Nikos Oikonomou
Nikolaos "Nikos" Oikonomou (alternate spellings: Ikonomou, Ekonomou) (Greek: Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Οικονόμου; born February 19, 1973) is a former Greek professional basketball player, and a current professional basketball coach. During his playing career, the 2.08 m (6 ft 10 in) tall power forward was a four-time FIBA EuroStar selection. He was inducted into the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame in 2022. Oikonomou also runs Basket4All, a basketball camp for young children. He hails from Emmanouil Pappas, Serres. Alexander Yakovlevich Gomelsky (; 18 January 1928 – 16 August 2005) was a Russian professional basketball player and coach. The Father of Soviet and Russian basketball, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995 and the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2007. Alexander Gomelsky was awarded the Olympic Order by the International Olympic Committee in 1998. In 2008, he was named one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors. Evgeny Yakovlevich Gomelsky (; 26 December 1938) is a Russian former professional basketball player and coach. He was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame, in 2010. Playing career Gomelsky began his club career as a basketball player in 1954, with the Soviet League club Spartak Leningrad. In 1957, he moved to the Soviet League club Rīgas ASK. In 1961, he moved to the Soviet club Lokomotiv Volgograd. He retired from playing club basketball in 1965. General of the Army Vladimir Yegorovich Pronichev (; born 1 March 1953) is a retired Russian security official, and the former head of the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federation. Pronichev also held the title of First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB), the successor organization to KGB. "Dynamo", also Dinamo (; ; ; ka, დინამო, tr), is a sports and physical training, fitness society created in 1923 in the Soviet Union. The society was an association of multi-sport clubs whose members were drawn from the NKVD and, after World War II, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Soviet Union), MVD and the KGB. With the Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe after World War II, similar Dynamo societies were established throughout the Eastern Bloc, such as SV Dynamo (East Germany). The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe.
