B-Line (Vancouver)
Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) is the contract operator for bus transit services in Metro Vancouver and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority, known locally as TransLink, the entity responsible for public transit in the region. The buses form part of the integrated transit network of the Lower Mainland. History The Coast Mountain Bus Company was created on April 1, 1999, concurrent with the implementation of TransLink. Bus service in Metro Vancouver was formerly provided by BC Transit, the provincial government crown corporation that operates transit outside of Metro Vancouver. Services Coast Mountain Bus Company operates the buses throughout Greater Vancouver, except for some routes in West Vancouver, which are run by its own municipal transit system. RapidBus (TransLink)
RapidBus is an express bus network with bus rapid transit elements in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. History On November 23, 2016, the Mayors' Council and TransLink's board of directors approved the first phase of the 10-Year Vision, which included provisions for new B-Line routes (later rebranded as RapidBus) which began service in January 2020. In July 2019, TransLink announced that all future B-Line routes would officially be launched under new "RapidBus" branding and that the 95 and 96 B-Lines would also transition to that branding, leaving route 99 as the only remaining B-Line. Guildford Town Centre is a shopping mall located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. It opened on November 8, 1966, and is owned by Ivanhoé Cambridge, a Quebec-based real estate company. Newton Exchange
Newton Exchange is a bus loop located in the central Newton area of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. As part of the TransLink system, it serves Newton with routes to Surrey City Centre, North Delta, Richmond, Langley City and White Rock, which provide connections to several SkyTrain stations for travel towards Vancouver. Structure and location The exchange opened on May 30, 1975, and is located on the southeast corner of 72 Avenue and 137 Street; it has a loop layout with several shelters. It was rebuilt in 1986 and again in 2013 to improve efficiency and to accommodate the introduction of the 96 B-Line service. Newton Exchange is adjacent to the Newton Wave Pool. The R1 King George Blvd is an express bus service with bus rapid transit elements in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Part of TransLink's RapidBus network, it travels along King George Boulevard and 104 Avenue in Surrey and connects Guildford, Whalley / City Centre, and Newton. The service replaced the 96 B-Line on January 6, 2020. It is operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company and funded by TransLink. All articulated buses used on this route are hybrid and air-conditioned. The R5 Hastings St is an express bus service with bus rapid transit elements in Metro Vancouver, Canada. Part of TransLink's RapidBus network, it travels along Hastings Street, a major east–west route, and connects Simon Fraser University to the SkyTrain system's Burrard station on the Expo Line in Downtown Vancouver. It replaced the 95 B-Line route on January 6, 2020. History Originally known as the 95 B-Line, the route started service on December 19, 2016, shortly after the opening of the Millennium Line's Evergreen Extension earlier that month. The new B-Line service replaced route 135, which had operated service between Downtown Vancouver and Simon Fraser University since April 1997. Broadway–City Hall is an underground station on the Canada Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain (Vancouver), SkyTrain rapid transit system. Commercial–Broadway (formerly two separate stations, Broadway and Commercial Drive) is a rapid transit station complex in Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain system in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It serves an elevated portion of the Expo Line and a below-grade portion of the Millennium Line. It is a major transit hub, with the third-highest number of boardings of any SkyTrain station, and a terminus of the region's busiest bus route, the 99 B-Line. 99 B-Line
The 99 B-Line is an express bus line with bus rapid transit elements in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It travels along Broadway, a major east–west thoroughfare, and connects the University of British Columbia (UBC) to Commercial–Broadway station on the SkyTrain system. It is operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company and funded by TransLink. It is the first and the most popular of the B-Line routes in the regional system. The other B-Lines that followed are based on the 99 B-Line in terms of the use of articulated buses (which can carry 120 passengers) and frequent arrivals for buses. The waiting time for a bus during peak hours on a weekday is 1.5–3 minutes. All of the buses on this route are built by New Flyer Industries of Winnipeg, Manitoba. On average it takes 42 minutes to complete the entire route, or half an hour near the last runs at the end of the night.
