The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), also known as Rojava, is a ''de facto'' Autonomous administrative division, autonomous region in northeastern Syria. It consists of self-governing Regions of North and East Syria, sub-regions in the areas of Jazira Region, Jazira, Euphrates Region, Euphrates, Raqqa, Al-Thawrah, Tabqa, and Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Deir ez-Zor. Mansur Selum
Mansur Selum () is a Syrian Arab politician. Since March 2016, he holds the office of co-president of the Executive Council of Rojava. Selum, serves alongside fellow co-president Îlham Ehmed, an ethnic Kurd. Deir ez-Zor Governorate ( / ALA-LC: ''Muḥāfaẓat Dayr az-Zawr,'' Kurdish'':'' ''Parêzgeha Dêrezor'') is one of the fourteen governorates (provinces) of Syria. It is situated in eastern Syria, bordering Iraq. It has an area of 33,060 km2 (12,760 sq mi) and a population of 1,239,000 (2011 estimate). The capital is Deir ez-Zor. Al-Thawrah
Al-Thawrah (), also known as Al-Tabqah (, Kurdish: ''Tebqa''), is a city in Raqqa Governorate, Syria, approximately west of Raqqa. Al-Thawrah was the original name the settlement, which up until the 1960s had been relatively small. The city had a population of 69,425 as of the 2004 census. It is part of the Tabqa Region of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. Euphrates Region
Euphrates Region, formerly Kobanî Canton, (; ; ) is the central of three original regions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, comprising Ayn al-Arab District of the Aleppo Governorate, Tell Abyad District of the Raqqa Governorate, and the westernmost tip of the Ras al-Ayn Subdistrict of the Ras al-Ayn District of Al-Hasakah Governorate. Euphrates Region unilaterally declared autonomy in January 2014 and since ''de facto'' is under direct democratic government in line with the polyethnic Constitution of Rojava. Jazira Region
The Jazira Region, formerly Jazira Canton (; ; ), is the largest of the three original regions of the de facto Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). As part of the ongoing Rojava conflict, its democratic autonomy was officially declared on 21 January 2014. The region is in the Al-Hasakah Governorate (formerly known as the Al-Jazira Province) of Syria. According to the AANES constitution, the city of Qamishli is the administrative center of Jazira Region.
