Aziz Suryal Atiya
Aziz Suryal Atiya (, ; July 5, 1898 – September 24, 1988) was an Egyptian Coptologist who was a Coptic history, Coptic historian and scholar and an expert in Islamic and Crusades studies. Atiya was the founder of the Institute of Coptic Studies in Cairo in the 1950s, and was also the founder of the University of Utah Middle East Center, Middle East Center, University of Utah. His library, the Aziz Atiya Library for Middle East Studies at University of Utah, is considered the fifth largest of such collection in North America. Khaled Al-Attiyah
Shaykh Khaled Abather al-Attiyah (also transliterated as Attia) is an Iraqi politician who was elected in December 2005 to the Council of Representatives as an independent member of the United Iraqi Alliance. On 22 April 2006 he was elected First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi National Assembly. He was born in 1949 in the Shamiyah District and graduated from Law College in Najaf in 1970. He went on to Cairo University where he obtained a Diploma in Shari'a in 1980 and a master's degree in Literature in 1985. He was worked at the Al-Dar al-Islami Foundation in Iran until 1994 when he moved to Lebanon to head the Al-Ghadir Center for Islamic Studies in Beirut. Nasser Salih Nasser Abdullah Al-Attiyah ( : nāṣir ṣāliḥ nāṣir ʿabd allāh al-ʿaṭiyyah; born 21 December 1970 in Doha) is a Qatari rally driver and sport shooter. Mohammad "Baby Jet" Attiah is a retired Ghanaian professional football (soccer) forward. He played two seasons in the North American Soccer League. In 1966, Attiah began his professional career in Ghana as a sixteen-year-old. He left Ghana in 1970 to play in Nigeria. Joseph Atiyeh (, born October 8, 1957) is a retired Syrian wrestler and the winner of Syria's first Olympic medal. Early life Atiyeh was born in Amar al-Husn, Homs Governorate, Syria to a Christian family. His parents immigrated to Allentown, Pennsylvania when he was two years old. Atiyeh wrestled at Dieruff High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Career Atiyeh represented Syria in the 1984 Summer Olympics, where he competed in the freestyle heavyweight 100 kg competition, and won the 1984 Summer Olympic silver medal. Patriarch Ignatius III Atiyah (died 1634) was Melkite Patriarch of Antioch from 1619 to 1634. Ezra Attiya (; ; 31 January 1885 – 25 May 1970) was one of the greatest teachers of Torah in the Sephardic Jewish world during the 20th century. He was rosh yeshiva of Porat Yosef Yeshiva in Jerusalem for 45 years, nurturing thousands of students who, together with their students, constitute the bulk of Sephardic Torah leadership today.
