Asteroideae
Asteroideae is a subfamily of the plant family Asteraceae. It contains about 70% of the species of the family. It consists of several tribes, including Astereae, Calenduleae, Eupatorieae, Gnaphalieae, Heliantheae, Senecioneae and Tageteae. Asteroideae contains plants found all over the world, many of which are shrubby. There are about 1,135 genera and 17,200 species within this subfamily; the largest genera by number of species are '' Helichrysum'' (500–600) and '' Artemisia'' (550). Asteroideae is said to date back to approximately 46–36.5 million years ago. Common characteristics This family will often have radiate style heads but some could have discoid or disciform. They contain ray florets that are three lobed and are also considered perfect flower implying that it is bisexual. Many contain stigmatic surfaces that are separated by two marginal bands and terminal sterile appendages with sweeping hairs. Taxonomy This subfamily is composed of 21 tribes that are b ...

Athroisma
''Athroisma'' is a genus of plants in the family Asteraceae first described as a genus in 1833. It is native to East Africa and Madagascar. ; Species ; species of homonym genus William Griffith in 1854 used the same name for a genus of very different plants, thus creating an illegitimate homonym. The World Checklist categorizes his name as a synonym of the genus '' Trigonostemon'' in the Euphorbiaceae, but makes no mention of the two species names he coined. Centipeda
''Centipeda'' is a genus of flowering plants in the daisy family, Asteraceae. The genus is primarily native to Australia and New Zealand, with a few species extending the range northward into Asia and across the Pacific to southern South America. Species Research and biological activities Volatile oils from '' Centipeda minima'' have been shown to modulate anti-inflammatory action by inhibiting inflammatory cytokines in a rat model. In a related study, ''C. minima'' eased allergic rhinitis by slowing the infiltration of eosinophils and the proliferation of mast cells. A comprehensive investigation of the GC-MS chemical profile of '' C. cunninghamii'' and its biological activity showed that this species' extract contains novel compounds that possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Phylogeny In 2012, Nylinder et al. published an estimation of the species tree phylogeny of the Australian/New Zealand genus ''Centipeda'' (Asteraceae Asteraceae () is a large fa ...
