Assassination Classroom
is a Japanese science fiction comedy manga series written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui. The series follows the daily life of an extremely powerful octopus-like being working as a junior high homeroom teacher, and his students dedicated to the task of assassinating him to prevent Earth from being destroyed. The students are considered "misfits" in their school and are taught in a separate building; the class he teaches is called 3-E. It was serialized in Shueisha's ''Weekly Shōnen Jump'' magazine from July 2012 to March 2016, with its chapters collected in twenty-one ''tankōbon'' volumes. In North America, the manga has been licensed for English language release by Viz Media. The anime series has been licensed by Funimation. Tankōbon
is the Japanese term for a book that is not part of an anthology or corpus. In modern Japanese, the term is most often used in reference to individual volumes of a manga series: most series first appear as individual chapters in a weekly or monthly manga anthology with other works before being published as volumes containing several chapters each. Major publishing imprints for include Jump Comics (for serials in Shueisha's '' Weekly Shōnen Jump'' and other ''Jump'' magazines), Kodansha's Shōnen Magazine Comics, and Shogakukan's Shōnen Sunday Comics. Crunchyroll is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service owned by Sony through a joint venture between Sony Pictures and Sony Music Entertainment Japan's Aniplex. The service primarily distributes films and television series produced by East Asian media, including Japanese anime.
