Aqueducts are bridges constructed to convey watercourses across gaps such as valleys or ravines. The term ''aqueduct'' may also be used to refer to the Aqueduct (water supply), entire watercourse, as well as the bridge. Large navigable aqueducts are used as transport links for boats or ships. Aqueduct (Peter van Zante), originally known as Water Wizard, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The character first appeared in '' Ghost Rider'' #23 (Apr. 1977) and was created by Jim Shooter and Don Heck. Fictional character biography Peter van Zante enlists in the U.S. military as a soldier. After being wounded in action, he is treated with an experimental radiation device while out at sea. A lightning strike during a freak storm destroys the device but van Zante is rejuvenated. While convalescing, van Zante discovers he can manipulate water and create semi-solid three-dimensional shapes. Aqueduct is an American, Seattle, Washington-based indie pop band, originally hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. Aqueduct, Shropshire
Aqueduct is a village in the Telford and Wrekin borough in Shropshire, England. It forms part of the Dawley Hamlets civil parish alongside Doseley, Horsehay, Lightmoor, Little Dawley and Spring Village. History The village was built around the 1790s following the opening of the Shropshire Canal to connect to the mines and foundries around the nearby town of Oakengates. Its name is taken from the sandstone aqueduct that crosses the turnpike road in the village. Following the development of the village, the nearby Wellington to Craven Arms Railway passed to the west of the village with stations at both Doseley and Lightmoor Platform. Additionally, the former Coalport branch line ran to the east of the village. The nearest station on that line was Dawley and Stirchley. Aqueduct is a hamlet in the Town of Niskayuna, Schenectady County, New York, United States. Its center is at the south end of the bridge of New York State Route 146 (Balltown Road) over the Mohawk River, that connects Schenectady County to the south and Saratoga County to the north. It was formerly a transportation hub. Alexander's Bridge across the Mohawk (see the map) antedated the Aqueduct. A new Route 146 steel highway bridge, with board pavement, parallel to the Aqueduct was built in the early 20th century. A Schenectady trolley line ended there, the line also serving Luna Park, just over the river in Rexford. The cerebral aqueduct (aqueduct of the midbrain, aqueduct of Sylvius, Sylvian aqueduct, mesencephalic duct) is a small, narrow tube connecting the third and fourth ventricles of the brain.
