Antisemitism In Argentina
Antisemitism is hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group. In Argentina antisemitism has been around since Spanish colonization in the sixteenth century, and has continued to the present day. In the twentieth century, antisemitism was particularly pervasive in Argentina, especially in the World War II and post-World War II eras. History Early Twentieth Century Mass immigration in the late nineteenth century brought a substantial number of Germans and Jews to Argentina. This mass immigration, in-turn, spawned a nativist, nationalistic fervor, which, in combination with the growth of Nazism amongst German Argentines, spawned measures against Jews. Antisemitism or Jew-hatred is hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against Jews. A person who harbours it is called an antisemite. Whether antisemitism is considered a form of racism depends on the school of thought. Tacuara Nationalist Movement
The ''Movimiento Nacionalista Tacuara'' (MNT, Tacuara Nationalist Movement) was an Argentine far right fascist movement. While officially established in 1957, its activities started in 1955, and continued through the 1960s, being integrated in Juan Perón's right-wing "Special Formations". Directly inspired by Julio Meinvielle's Catholic pronouncements, Tacuara defended nationalist, Catholic, anti-liberal, anti-communist, antisemitic, and anti-democratic ideas, and had as its first model José Antonio Primo de Rivera's fascist Falange Española. October 7 Hamas-led Attack On Israel
On October 7, 2023, Hamas and several other Palestinian militant groups launched coordinated armed incursions from the Gaza Strip into the Gaza envelope of southern Israel, the first invasion of Israeli territory since the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Soap Made From Human Corpses
During the 20th century there were various alleged instances of soap being made from human body fat. During World War I, the British press claimed that the Germans operated a corpse factory in which they made glycerine and soap from the bodies of their own soldiers. Both during and after World War II, widely circulated rumors claimed that soap was being mass-produced from the bodies of the victims of Nazi concentration camps which were located in German-occupied Poland. Richard Williamson (bishop)
Richard Nelson Williamson (8 March 1940 – 29 January 2025) was an English traditionalist Catholic prelate and Holocaust denier who opposed the changes in the Church brought about by the Second Vatican Council and was excommunicated from the Catholic Church. He was formerly a member of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX). In 1988, Williamson was one of four SSPX priests consecrated as bishops by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, for which Pope John Paul II declared all parties had incurred ''ipso facto'' automatic excommunication. The validity of the excommunication has always been denied by the SSPX, who, citing canon law, argue that the consecrations were permissible due to a crisis in the Catholic Church.
