Antonio Fas Alzamora
Antonio "Tony" J. Fas Alzamora (born November 16, 1948) is a Puerto Rican politician and Senator. As of 31 December 2011, he was the longest-serving legislator in the history of Puerto Rico, having served in ten Legislative Assemblies, one House of Representatives (from 1977 to 1980), and nine Senates (since 1980). Early years and studies Antonio Fas Alzamora was born on November 16, 1948, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to farmer Chaibén J. Fas Fagundo and teacher and housewife Margarita Alzamora Brunet. He finished his elementary and high school at Academia de la Inmaculada Concepción in Mayagüez. He then began his college studies at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. In 1970, he received his bachelor's degree in natural sciences with a major in Biology. Augusto Vargas Alzamora
Augusto Vargas Alzamora S.J. (9 November 1922 – 4 September 2000) was a Cardinal Priest and Archbishop of Lima in the Roman Catholic Church. He joined the Society of Jesus in 1940. He studied at the Jesuit Philosophical Faculty in San Miguel, Argentina and Madrid. He continued his studies in Granada, Spain and the University of San Marcos, Lima, where he received his doctorate in education. Pope Paul VI appointed him titular bishop of Cissi and apostolic vicar of Jaén, Peru on 8 June 1978. In 1982 he was elected secretary general of the Episcopal conference of Peru, and was reelected twice more. He was to become its president from 1993 to 1999. He resigned the pastoral government of the vicariate in 1985. In 1989 Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Lima, where he stayed until he retired in 1999. Emilio Alzamora
Emilio Alzamora Escardibul (born May 22, 1973 in Lleida, Spain) is a former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was the 1999 F.I.M. 125cc world champion. He is the second rider to win a Grand Prix motorcycle world championship without having won a race. Alzamora got his start racing in the 80cc class, winning the 1989 80cc championship of Catalunya at the age of 16. In 1994, he made his Grand Prix debut in the 125 class as a member of former world champion Paolo Pileri's team. He moved up to the 250 class in 1997, but after a season marred by injuries, he returned to the 125 class. Alzamora won the 1999 125cc world championship without winning a race by virtue of 10 podium positions, defeating Marco Melandri and Masao Azuma who each had five victories.
