Laurel Hill is a city in Okaloosa County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Crestview– Fort Walton Beach–Destin, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 584 at the 2020 US Census, up from 537 at the 2010 census. History The area which is now Laurel Hill was one of the first post-American annexation, English-speaking settlements in Florida. There had been settlements by English-speaking loyalists in Florida during the American Revolution. Almirante, Bocas Del Toro
Almirante is the capital of the Almirante District of the Bocas del Toro Province in the Republic of Panama. Its name is Spanish for admiral. History Almirante was built by the United Fruit Company at the beginning of the 20th century as a port for its banana exports. The area consisted of landfills on swamps. Almirante hosted UFCO's head office until 1970. Its first settlers were mostly black Jamaicans and the Lesser Antilles who moved to work on the banana plantations in the early 1900s. Due to the importance of the port of Almirante, it also attracted Chinese, Hindu and Jewish merchants in the early 1950s; Since 2002, a massive migration of Chinese entered the entire province, so it is normal to see them in their businesses. Andvord Bay () is a bay, long and wide, which lies between Beneden Head and Duthiers Point along the west coast of Graham Land, Antarctica. Location Andvord Bay is on the Danco Coast on the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula. It extands in a northwest direction from Forbidden Plateau. Laussedat Heights on the Arctowski Peninsula and Rongé Island are to the east of the bay, which opens onto the Gerlache Strait opposite Anvers Island. Lemaire Island and Paradise Harbour are to the southwest.
