Airsoft
Airsoft, also known as survival game () in Japan where it was popular, is a team sport, team-based shooting sport, shooting game in which participants eliminate opposing players out of play by shooting them with airsoft pellets, spherical plastic projectiles shot from airsoft guns. Although similar to paintball in concept and gameplay, airsoft pellets do not leave visible markings on their target and hits are not always apparent. Though the pellet impacts can leave small bruises or welt (bruise), welts on exposed skin (and so protective gear is still recommended), the game relies heavily on an honor system in which players who have been hit are expected to call themselves out of play in keeping with honesty, fairness and sportsmanship. The airsoft guns used are mostly magazine (firearms), magazine-fed, with some having manual/battery (electricity), battery electric motor, motor-powered spring (device), spring-piston pump powerplant, power plants similar to Nerf Blasters, or pne ...

Airsoft Guns
Airsoft guns are air guns used in airsoft sports. They are a special type of low-power smoothbore guns designed to shoot Airsoft pellets, plastic pellets often colloquially (but incorrectly) referred to as "BB (ammunition), BBs", which are typically made of (but not limited to) plastic or biodegradable polymer, biodegradable resin materials. Airsoft gun powerplants are designed to have low muzzle energy ratings (generally more than 1.1 Joule, J, or 1.1 Foot-pound (energy), ft⋅lb) and the bullets have significantly less penetration (weaponry), penetrative and stopping power than conventional airguns, and are generally safe for competitive sporting and recreational purposes if proper protective gear is worn. Depending on the design mechanism for bullet propulsion, airsoft guns fall into two groups. One group is mechanical guns, which consist of a coil spring-loaded piston pump, piston air pump that is either manually cocked (e.g., spring guns) (these are commonly referred to a ...

Airsoft Pellets
Airsoft pellets (known as BBs) are spherical projectiles used by airsoft guns. Typically made of plastic, they usually measure around in diameter (though selective models use 8 mm), and weigh , with the most common weights being 0.20 g and 0.25 g, while 0.28 g, 0.30 g, 0.32 g and 0.40 g BBs are also commonplace. Though frequently referred to as "BBs" among airsoft users, these BBs are ''not'' the same as either of the 4.5 mm caliber metal projectiles that BB guns fire, or the -sized birdshot from which the term "BB" originated. Variants Although the majority of pellets bought and used are simple spherical projectiles made of plastic, some of the following special varieties can be used to give a player an advantage, such as higher quality pellets. Biodegradable Biodegradable pellets are available, and are often required by outdoor fields where sweeping is not an option. Conventional pellets pollute the environment, as most non-biodegrad ...

Shooting Sport
Shooting sports is a group of competitive and recreational sporting activities involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed in shooting — the art of using ranged weapons, mainly small arms (firearms and airguns, in forms such as handguns, rifles and shotguns) and bows/crossbows. Shooting sports can be categorized by equipment, shooting distances, targets, time limits and degrees of athleticism involved. Shooting sports may involve both team and individual competition, and team performance is usually assessed by summing the scores of the individual team members. Due to the noise of shooting and the high (and often lethal) impact energy of the projectiles, shooting sports are typically conducted at either designated permanent shooting ranges or temporary shooting fields in the area away from settlements. History Great Britain The National Rifle Association (NRA) was founded in 1859 to raise the funds for an annual national rifle meeting "for the encourag ...

MilSim
MilSim, an abbreviation of military simulation, refers to live-acted simulation of armed conflict scenarios conducted by civilians for entertainment, sporting, or nostalgic purposes. It has been described as both a form of "extreme sport" and as historical reenactment. Overview MilSim includes activities that strive to provide an experience of combat, simulate battlefield missions, or replicate military service-style training. The training is simulated because participants engage in mock scenarios and do not actually engage in real conflicts or use real weaponry. There are several forms of MilSim: physical shooting sports (e.g. airsoft, paintball, or laser tag) with an emphasis on realism based on military scenarios and team tactics; historical reenactment of famous battles; stylistic imitations of a specific military era or focus, such as cosplaying; and military-themed e-sports (e.g. video games). Airsoft guns are used commonly in MilSim due to their cosmetic realism, sat ...

Paintball
Paintball is a competitive sport, competitive team sport, team shooting sport in which players eliminate opponents from play by hitting them with spherical dye-filled gelatin capsules called Paintball equipment#Paintballs, paintballs that break upon impact. Paintballs are usually shot using low-energy air gun, air weapons called paintball markers that are powered by compressed air or carbon dioxide and were originally designed for remotely marking trees and cattle. The game was invented in Henniker, New Hampshire, Henniker, New Hampshire, June 27, 1981, by Hayes Noel, a Wall Street stock trader, and Charles Gaines (writer), Charles Gaines, an outdoorsman and writer. A debate arose between the two men about whether a city-dweller had the instinct to survive in the woods against someone who had spent his youth hunting, fishing, and building cabins. A friend of the pair chanced upon an advertisement for ''Nel-Spot'' cattle marking guns in a farm catalogue and they were inspired ...

Rail Integration System
file:Dovetail.jpg, A dovetail rail on a rifle receiver for scope mount, mounting a Sight (device), sight A rail integration system (RIS; also called a rail accessory system (RAS), rail interface system, rail system, mount, base, gun rail, or simply a rail) is a generic term for any standardization, standardized attachment system for mounting firearm accessories via bar stock, bar-like straight brackets (i.e. "rails") often with regularly spaced slots. Rail systems are usually made of strips of metal or polymer screw-fastened onto the gun's receiver (firearms), receiver, barrel shroud, handguard, or stock (firearms)#Fore-end, fore-end stock to allow variable-position attachments. An advantage of the multiple rail slots is the moveable positions to adjust for optimal placement of each item for a user's preferences, along with the ability to switch different items at different placements due to varying eye reliefs on gun sights. Firearm accessories commonly compatible with or inten ...

Live Action Role-playing Game
A live action role-playing game (LARP) is a form of role-playing game where the participants physically portray their character (arts), characters.(Tychsen et al. 2006:255) "LARPs can be viewed as forming a distinct category of RPG because of two unique features: (a) The players physically embody their characters, and (b) the game takes place in a physical frame. Embodiment means that the physical actions of the player are regarded as those of the character. LARP participants may dress in the costume of their character and carry appropriate physical props (e.g., an 18th century militia LARP participant may wear a military uniform and carry a musket). Whereas in a RPG played by a group sitting around a table, players describe the actions of their characters (e.g., "I run to stand beside my friend"); in an equivalent situation in a LARP, a player would physically run to the appropriate point within the game space." The players pursue goals within a fictional setting (narrative), s ...

Piston Pump
A piston pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal reciprocates with the piston. Piston pumps can be used to move liquids or compress gases. They can operate over a wide range of pressures. High pressure operation can be achieved without adversely affecting flow rate. Piston pumps can also deal with viscous media and media containing solid particles. This pump type functions through a piston cup, oscillation mechanism where down-strokes cause pressure differentials, filling of pump chambers, where up-stroke forces the pump fluid out for use. Piston pumps are often used in scenarios requiring high, consistent pressure and in water irrigation or delivery systems. Types The two main types of piston pump are the lift pump and the force pump. Both types may be operated either by hand or by an engine. Lift pump In a lift pump, the upstroke of the piston draws water, through a valve, into the lower part of the cylinder. On the downstroke, water passes thro ...
