Benjamín Rivera Noriega Airport
Benjamín Rivera Noriega Airport is a public use airport on the island of Culebra in Puerto Rico. The airport is owned by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation airport. However, the airport does offer scheduled passenger service. History The airport of Culebra was originally built as a military airport by the United States Marine Corps, opening in 1957. In 1965, the government of Puerto Rico started flying civilians from San Juan to the island with a Legislative compensation. After the Navy-Culebra protests, the Puerto Rico Ports Authority started administering the civilian flight operations in Culebra, inaugurating the first passenger terminal on October 24, 1976. Dorado Airport
Dorado Airport or Dorado Beach Airport was a small single runway airport in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Clara Livingston, the owner of the property at the time, ordered the strip be built, and her friend, Amelia Earhart, may have used the facility as well. Later on, the United States military, during World War II, paved the runway. Much later on, a large airline named Caribair (later overtaken by Eastern Air Lines), began flights there. When Caribair became part of Eastern, flights to Dorado Airport were suspended. During the mid 1960s, Dorado was served by Dorado Wings (later renamed Crown Air), a small airline that operated charter flights between Dorado Airport and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan. The airline operated propeller airplanes. In the early 1990s, the airport was officially closed. Cullingford Field
Cullingford Field was an airstrip owned and operated by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service near Boquerón in the municipality of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Located within the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge, it was used exclusively by Fish and Wildlife personnel. Google Earth Historical Imagery (3/27/2004) shows an east-west grass runway with a Quonset hangar midfield. The (10/31/2006) image shows the runway area divided into unfenced plots and being cultivated. By 2009 the runway had been returned to grass and usability. The (10/24/2010) image shows the runway usable, but the hangar being demolished. By (12/3/2011) the hangar is gone and brush is growing on the runway. Current imagery (11/29/2017) shows the airfield returned to nature. Mona Airport
Mona Airport is an airstrip on Mona Island (), the third largest island of Puerto Rico. Private and commercial flights require a permit for use of the landing strip. The permit can only be acquired through the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources. The airport is also available to planes for emergency purposes. Mona Island is a natural reserve and there are no permanent inhabitants. Rangers from the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources rotate residence on the island to manage visitors and take part in research projects. The runway parallels the island's southwest shore. Approach and departures are over the water. An overrun to the northwest will hit some coral rock outcroppings. The Mayaguez VOR/DME (Ident: MAZ) is located east-northeast of Mona Airport. The Punta Cana VOR/DME (Ident: PNA) is located in the Dominican Republic northwest of the airstrip. Fajardo () is a Fajardo barrio-pueblo, town and a Municipalities of Puerto Rico, municipality part of the San Juan–Caguas–Guaynabo metropolitan area, San Juan-Caguas-Fajardo Combined Statistical Area in Puerto Rico.
