Airports In Ethiopia
This is a list of airports in Ethiopia, grouped by type and sorted by location. Transport in Ethiopia is overseen by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. In December 2024, it was reported that Ethiopia will be constructing a new airport worth US$6 billion near its capital Addis Ababa. The airport will be Africa's largest and busiest airport and is designed to serve 100 million passengers annually. Bole International Airport
Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is an international airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is in the Bole Medhanealem, Bole Districts of Ethiopia, district, southeast of the city centre and north of Bishoftu. The airport was formerly known as ''Haile Selassie, Haile Selassie I International Airport''. It is the main Airline hub, hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national airline that serves destinations in Ethiopia and throughout the African continent, as well as connections to Asia, Europe, North America and South America. The airport is also the base of the Ethiopian Aviation Academy. As of June 2018, nearly 380 flights per day were using the airport. Bulki
Bulki is a town in southern Ethiopia. It sits on a narrow ridge, high above the town of Sawla, in the Gofa Zone of the South Ethiopia Regional State. It is the administrative center of Geze Gofa woreda. Population Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, Bulki has an estimated total population of 5,878 of whom 2,820 were males and 3,058 were females. Beica
Begi is a town in south-western Ethiopia. Located in the West Welega Zone of the Oromia Region, the town has a latitude and longitude of with an elevation of 1673 meters above sea level. Begi is the administrative center of Begi woreda. As of 2005, the woreda is divided into two districts: Begi and Qondaala. Bahir Dar () is the capital city of Amhara Region, Ethiopia. Bahir Dar is one of the leading tourist destinations in Ethiopia, with a variety of attractions in the nearby Lake Tana and Blue Nile river. Axum Airport
Axum Airport () , also known as Emperor Yohannes IV Airport, is a public airport serving Axum, a city in the northern Tigray Region of Ethiopia. The name of the city and airport may also be transliterated as ''Aksum''. The facility is located to the east of the city. The airport is named after Yohannes IV, the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1872 to 1889. The airport was heavily damaged by Tigray People's Liberation Front forces during the Tigray conflict in November 2020. Facilities Axum Airport lies at an elevation of above mean sea level. The Tigray Region (or simply Tigray; officially the Tigray National Regional State) is the northernmost Regions of Ethiopia, regional state in Ethiopia. Axum
Axum, also spelled Aksum (), is a town in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia with a population of 66,900 residents (as of 2015). It is the site of the historic capital of the Aksumite Empire. Axum is located in the Central Zone of the Tigray Region, near the base of the Adwa mountains.
