This is a list of airports in Denmark, sorted by location. Denmark () is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe and the senior member of the Kingdom of Denmark. It is the southernmost of the Nordic countries, southwest of Sweden and south of Norway, and bordered to the south by Germany. Denmark borders both the Baltic and the North Sea. The country consists of the large peninsula of Jutland (''Jylland''), as well as several hundred islands, most notably Zealand (''Sjælland''), Funen (''Fyn''), Vendsyssel-Thy, Lolland, Falster, Bornholm, and Amager. The capital and largest city of Denmark is Copenhagen (''København''), located on Amager and the east coast of Zealand. Falster
Falster () is an island in south-eastern Denmark with an area of and 43,398 inhabitants as of 1 January 2010."Danmarks Statistik." Retrieved 28 June 2010. Located in the Kattegat, Belts and Sound area, it is part of Region Zealand and is administered by Guldborgsund Municipality. Falster includes Denmark's southernmost point, Gedser Odde, near Gedser. The largest town is Nykøbing Falster with over 40% of the island's inhabitants. Other towns include Stubbekøbing, Nørre Alslev and Gedser. Falster has motor and railway links both to the larger island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand to the north and to the island of Lolland to the south-west. Aarhus
Aarhus (, , ; officially spelled Århus from 1948 until 1 January 2011) is the second-largest city in Denmark and the seat of Aarhus municipality, Aarhus Municipality. It is located on the eastern shore of Jutland in the Kattegat sea and approximately northwest of Copenhagen. Dating back to the late 8th century, Aarhus was founded as a harbour settlement at the mouth of the Aarhus River and quickly became a trade hub. The first Christian church was built here around the year 900 and later in the Viking Age the town was fortified with defensive ramparts. The Ancient See of Aarhus, bishopric of Aarhus grew steadily stronger and more prosperous, building several religious institutions in the town during the early Middle Ages. Aalborg Air Base
Aalborg Air Base () also Air Transport Wing Aalborg is a military air base for the Royal Danish Air Force . It is located at Vadum, near Aalborg, Denmark. Aalborg Air Base shares its runway system as well as some services, including air traffic control, with Aalborg Airport. History Aalborg Air Base was established along with Aalborg Airport in 1938, serving the first Danish domestic flight between Aalborg and Copenhagen. The air base was established following pressure from the Aalborg Portland cement factory as local authorities were hesitant to invest in air traffic infrastructure. When Germany invaded Denmark on 9 April 1940, the German Luftwaffe launched one of the first airborne operations in history, in which paratroopers captured the airport. Aalborg Airport
Aalborg Airport () is a dual-use (civilian/military) airport located in Nørresundby, Aalborg Municipality, Denmark, which is northwest of Aalborg. History Aalborg Airport was opened in 1938 as the second national airport. During World War II, Aalborg was occupied and used by the German Air Force. The 3rd and 5th squadrons of '' Bordfliegergruppe 196'' (Embarked Air Group 196) as well as the group's staff unit, used Aalborg as a base for maritime reconnaissance flights and detachments serving aboard German Navy surface combatants. The present terminal building is from 2001. The airport was enlarged during 2007 and 2013, increasing the terminal size and number of gates. North Denmark Region
The North Jutland Region (), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2006, when Ærø Municipality was created, to 98. North Jutland Region has 11 municipalities. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favor of the local level and the central government in Copenhagen. Nørresundby
Nørresundby () is a city in Aalborg Municipality, north of Limfjorden, in Vendsyssel, in Denmark. The urban area has a population of 24,436 (1 January 2025). It is located just north of Aalborg, which lies south of Limfjorden. Statistically its own urban area since 2006, it is often still considered part of Aalborg; sometimes the name Greater Aalborg (''Stor-Aalborg'') is used to describe the concept. The city is connected to Aalborg by the Limfjordsbroen road bridge, and an iron railway bridge, as well as a motorway (E45) passing it to the east and running under the Limfjord. Aalborg or Ålborg ( , , ) is Denmark's List of cities and towns in Denmark, fourth largest urban settlement (behind Copenhagen, Aarhus, and Odense) with a population of 119,862 (1 July 2022) in the town proper and an Urban area, urban population of 143,598 (1 July 2022).
