Agago District
The Agago District is a Ugandan district located in the Northern Region, Uganda, Northern Region of Uganda. Location Agago District is bordered by Kitgum District to the north, Kotido District to the northeast, Abim District to the east, Otuke District, to the south, and Pader District to the west. Agago, the location of the district headquarters, lies approximately southeast of Kitgum, the nearest large town. This location lies approximately , by road, north of Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and the largest city in that country. The coordinates of the district are:02 50N, 33 20E. Overview Agago District is one of the newest districts in Uganda. It was established by Act of Parliament and began functioning on 1 July 2010. Prior to that date, it was part of Pader District. Districts Of Uganda
As of 1 July 2020, Uganda is divided into 135 districts plus the capital city of Kampala, which are grouped into four Regions of Uganda, geographic regions. Since 2005, the Ugandan government has been in the process of dividing districts into smaller units. This decentralization is intended to prevent resources from being distributed primarily to chief towns and leaving the remainder of each district neglected. Each district is further divided into Counties of Uganda, counties and municipalities, and each county is further divided into Sub-counties of Uganda, sub-counties. The head elected official in a district is the chairperson of the Local Council (Uganda), Local Council five (usually written with a Roman numeral V).
