Adelaide United FC, Adelaide United Football Club, an association club based in Hindmarsh, South Australia, Hindmarsh, Adelaide, was founded in 2003. They became the only South Australian member admitted into the A-League Men in 2005, after they spent their 2003–04 Adelaide United FC season, inaugural season in the National Soccer League. The club's first team has competed in numerous nationally and internationally organised competitions, and all players who have played in 100 or more such matches are listed below. Eugene Galekovic holds the record for greatest number of appearances for Adelaide United. Between 2007 and 2017, he played 285 times for the club. Isaías Sánchez, Isaías and Ryan Kitto are the other players to have reached over 200 appearances. 2005 Australian Club World Championship Qualifying Tournament
The 2005 Australian Club World Championship Qualifying Tournament was as association football knock-out competition to determine the Australian entrant into the 2005 OFC Club Championship. The tournament consisted of seven teams, being the teams competing in the inaugural A-League season in 2005–06, with the exception of New Zealand Knights. A standalone tournament was necessary to determine to determine Australia's Oceania Club Championship entrant for the year as there had yet to be any competitive matches for the new A-League clubs. It was to be a one-off competition, with Australia joining the Asian Football Confederation from 2006 onwards, and future continental qualification places determined by teams' performances in the A-League. Stefan Ingo Mauk (born 12 October 1995) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as an attacking midfielder for A-League Men club Adelaide United. Mauk is also capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder and as a right winger. Personal life Mauk attended Henley High School. Mauk's father, Georg, died of cancer when Mauk was 15. Michael Jakobsen (born 2 January 1986) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a defender for National Premier Leagues South Australia club FK Beograd. He was named 2002 Danish ''Under-17 Player of the Year'', and has played five games for the Denmark national team. Ross Aloisi (born 17 April 1973) is a former Australian soccer player and current assistant coach of Shanghai Port. He was the captain of Adelaide United in the Hyundai A-League – a team he guided to a minor premiership, a pre-season cup and two Asian Champions League campaigns.
