Abuja
Abuja (; , ) is the capital city of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, strategically situated at the geographic midpoint of the country within the Federal Capital Territory (Nigeria), Federal Capital Territory (FCT). As the seat of the Federal Government of Nigeria, it hosts key national institutions, landmarks, and buildings spread across its over 50 districts. It replaced Lagos (the most populous city in Nigeria) as the capital on 12 December 1991. Abuja's geography is defined by Aso Rock, a monolith left by water erosion. The Nigerian Presidential Complex, Presidential Complex, Nigerian National Assembly, National Assembly, Nigerian Supreme Court, Supreme Court and much of the city extends to the south of the rock. Abuja Light Rail
Abuja Rail Mass Transit (commonly known as Abuja Light Rail) is a regional rail transport system in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. It was the first rapid transit system in Nigeria and the second such system in sub-saharan Africa (after Addis Ababa Light Rail). The first phase of the project connects the city center to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, stopping at the Abuja-Kaduna Railway station in Idu. The Abuja Metro Line was launched on 12 July 2018 and a three-trains-per-day service opened for passengers the following week. Passenger services on the line were suspended in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was reopened May 29, 2024, with four trips per day on both lines, and all the stations on both lines fully operational. Moshood Abiola National Stadium (formerly known as National Stadium, Abuja) is a multipurpose national sports stadium located in Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. The stadium serves as a home to the Nigerian national football team, as well as a center for various social, cultural, and religious events. The Federal Government of Nigeria approved the contract for the construction of the National Stadium complex and Games Village on 18 July 2000. Millennium Park (Abuja)
The Millennium Park is the largest public park of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria and is located in the Maitama district of the city. The Millennium Park was inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II on 4 December 2003. It is near the former Presidential Palace close to the nucleus of presidential and administrative buildings of the city. A river crosses the Park in its main rectilinear axis, dividing it into two parts. One side on the Park is dedicated to uncontaminated nature. In a system of terraces at different levels are located Nigeria's mountain vegetation, savanna, deciduous forest, rainforest and brushwood as well as greenhouses for butterflies and tropical birds. The Abuja National Mosque (), also known as the Nigerian National Mosque, is the national mosque of Nigeria. The mosque was built in 1984 and is open to the non-Muslim public, except during congregational prayers. Aso Rock
Aso Rock is a large outcrop of granitic rock located on the outskirts of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. The Aso Rock is a prominent monolith with a peak height of above sea level. It is one of the city's most noticeable features. The Nigerian Presidential Complex, Nigerian National Assembly, and Nigerian Supreme Court are located around it. Abu Ja
Abu Ja (born Jatau dan Ishaku Jatau; died 1851) was the founder of the Emirate of Abuja. Early life Abu Ja was born to Ishaku Jatau, the ruler of the Hausa state of Zazzau. His mother died shortly after giving birth to him, and he was raised by his father's first wife, Tasalla, as her own child, alongside her other sons, Makau and Abu Kwaka. His birth name was Jatau, but he was nicknamed Abu Ja ('Abu the Red') due to his light skin. He was described as being five feet six inches tall.
