AIK Fotboll
AIK Fotboll (), more commonly known simply as AIK (), an abbreviation for Allmänna Idrottsklubben (meaning ''the public'' or ''general sports club''), and internationally known as AIK Stockholm, is a Swedish professional football club from Stockholm, competing in Allsvenskan, the top flight of Swedish football. The club was founded 1891 and the football department was formed in 1896. AIK's home ground is Strawberry Arena, located in Solna, just north of Stockholm City Centre. League champions in 2018, AIK has 12 championship titles and is third in the all-time Allsvenskan table. The club holds the record for having played the most seasons in the Swedish top flight. In Europe, AIK reached the quarter-finals of the 1996–97 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, qualified for the 1999–00 UEFA Champions League group stage, and competed in the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League group stage. Nils-Eric Claes Johansson (; born 13 January 1980) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a defender. Born in Stockholm, Johansson signed with FC Bayern Munich in 1997. He then went on to represent 1. FC Nürnberg, Blackburn Rovers, and Leicester City before returning to his native Sweden and the club AIK in 2007. He made 371 appearances for AIK until his retirement from football in 2018 due to a heart condition. He won three caps for the Sweden national team in 2002. Kenneth Steven Pavey (born 23 August 1979) is an English-Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Early career Born in South London, Pavey made his debut at local club Athenley FC before moving to his boyhood favourite club Millwall. He ended his junior years at Sittingbourne where he also made his debut at senior level. A transfer to Premier League side Aston Villa fell through in 1998 because the two clubs involved could not agree on a transfer fee. Pavey instead moved to Swedish second division side Ljungskile SK where he remained until the 2005 season, except for a break during the 2002 season. Martin Kayongo-Mutumba (born Martin Mutumba, 15 June 1985) is a former professional footballer who played as a winger. He is best remembered for his time with AIK, with which he won both Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen in 2009. Born in Sweden to Ugandan parents, he represented the Sweden U17 and U19 teams before making his full international debut for Uganda in 2012. Career Early career Mutumba began his career in Vasalunds IF as a young child, and in 1999 he joined AIK, as a youth player. In the fall of 2002 he made his first appearance with the senior squad against Kalmar FF, playing the last five minutes of the game.
