2025 UFL Season
The 2025 UFL season is the current second season of the United Football League. The Birmingham Stallions were the defending champions after they defeated the San Antonio Brahmas in the 2024 UFL Championship Game to win their third consecutive spring football championship, adding to their back-to-back championships in the rebooted USFL. The Stallions were defeated in the 2025 USFL Championship Game by the Michigan Panthers, and the DC Defenders routed the Panthers 58–34 to win their first UFL Championship. Offseason The UFL exceeded internal expectations for the 2024 season, with Fox Sports executive Eric Shanks commenting that, though the league still lost money, it was "ahead of the expected pace" in terms of achieving self-sustenance, while the league long-term goal is to solicit local investors in an owner-operator arrangement similar to that used by Major League Soccer and the previous United Football League. The United Football League (UFL) is a Professional gridiron football, professional American football high level Minor league football (gridiron), minor league in the United States. The league was created following the merger of the latest incarnations of the XFL (2020–2023), XFL and United States Football League (2022–2023), United States Football League (USFL); it started play in March 2024. Daryl Peter "Moose" Johnston (born February 10, 1966) is an American former professional American football, football player (running back/Fullback (gridiron football), fullback) who is currently the executive vice president of football operations for the United Football League (2024), UFL. Russell Jerome Brandon (born June 1967) is an American sports executive, and current CEO and President of the United Football League (UFL). Brandon is best known for his 21-year tenure in the front office of the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. Career Early career Brandon is a 1989 alumnus of Saint John Fisher College.
