Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. Though the sense of "athletics" as a broader sport is not used in American English, outside of the United States the term ''athletics'' can either be used to mean just its track and field component or the entirety of the sport (adding road racing and cross country) based on context. 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships was the 19th edition of the international indoor track and field competition, organised by the World Athletics. The event was held between 1–3 March at the Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, United Kingdom. It was the third time, after 2003 IAAF World Indoor Championships, Birmingham 2003 and 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2018, that the World Indoor Championships were held in the United Kingdom, and the first time in Scotland. Brandon Miller (runner)
Brandon Miller (born January 30, 2002) is an American middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800 metres. As an 11-year-old sixth grader in O'Fallon, Missouri, Miller set national records for his age in the 800 and 1500. In 2017, he briefly held the world record in this event in the 14-year-old age group. As a senior at John Burroughs School in St. Louis, Missouri, Miller was named Gatorade Player of the Year for boys track. He qualified for the 800 m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships after finishing third at the 2022 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Brannon Kidder
Brannon Kidder (born November 18, 1993) is an American middle-distance runner. In 2017, he won the gold medal in the men's 4 × 800 metres relay at the 2017 IAAF World Relays held in Nassau, Bahamas. In 2019, he represented the United States in The Match Europe v USA where he won the bronze medal in the mixed 1600 metres medley relay event and he finished in 5th place in the men's 800 metres event. In the same year, he also competed in the men's 800 metres event at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He qualified to compete in the semi-finals and he did not advance to compete in the final. Distance Medley Relay
The distance medley relay (DMR) is an athletic event in which four athletes compete as part of a relay. With its inclusion in the IAAF World Relays program, the IAAF announced on May 1, 2015 that the event would be an official world record event. Unlike most track relays, each member of the team runs a different distance. A distance medley relay is made up of a 1200-meter leg (three laps on a standard 400 meter track), a 400-meter leg (one lap), an 800-meter leg (two laps), and a 1600-meter leg (four laps) in that order. The total distance run is 4000 meters, or nearly 2.5 miles. Aside from the 400 meter segment, which is a sprint, all legs are a middle distance run. Ramona, Oklahoma
Ramona is a town in Washington County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 535 at the 2010 census. History The town began as Bon-Ton, but changed its name to Ramona in 1899 in honor of the Helen Hunt Jackson novel of the same name. Ramona was an oil town and was also a stop for the Santa Fe railroad. When the oil dried up, there was no other industry to support Ramona, so the town began to die out. Very little business remains in the town, aside from a garage, a bank, a medical clinic, and a diner, and sundry other small businesses. For 30 years the town was under the jurisdiction of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, after the police department disbanded and the Chief of Police was sentenced to prison. Agnes Jebet Ngetich (born 23 January 2001) is a Kenyan long-distance runner. She won two medals at the 2023 World Cross Country Championships with bronze in the senior women's race and team gold. In January 2024, with a time of 28:46, she set the 10 km run world record in Valencia, breaking the previous record by 28 seconds. En route to this time, Ngetich also broke the 5 km run world record, splitting 14:13 at 5 km which was 6 seconds faster than the previous world record.
