2024 Brisbane International
The 2024 Brisbane International was a professional tennis tournament on the 2024 ATP Tour and 2024 WTA Tour. It was played on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. This was the thirteenth edition of the tournament and took place at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson as part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year, and this was also the first tournament since 2020 (and men's events since 2019) after intervening editions cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gold Coast Turf Club
Gold Coast Turf Club is an Australian horse racing organization based in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia. Race track The racecourse holds numerous Thoroughbred racehorse meetings each year. The feature event is the annual Gold Coast Cup, which is held on the last Thursday of September. The grass track can hold various distances up to 2100m. Magic Millions Classic
The Magic Millions 2YO Classic is a Gold Coast Turf Club Restricted Listed Thoroughbred horse race. The race is conducted under set weights and is restricted to two year old horses that were bought at a Magic Millions Sale auction. Eligible auctions are held at Gold Coast, Tasmania, Perth and Adelaide. As of 2024, the prizemoney is $3,000,000. History The race was first held in 1987 and has always been held at set weights. The race forms part of the Magic Millions carnival which incorporates the Gold Coast Yearling Sale and the Magic Millions Raceday is fully restricted to horses that have been sold or passed-in at one of the Magic Millions sales. Magic Millions along with Racing Queensland introduced a revamped Queensland Summer Racing Carnival in 2017, increasing the prizemoney on offer to make it Australia's first $10 million raceday. Gai Waterhouse
Gabriel Marie "Gai" Waterhouse (née Smith; born 2 September 1954) is an Australian horse trainer and businesswoman. The daughter of Tommy J. Smith, a leading trainer of Thoroughbred racehorses, Waterhouse was born and raised in Sydney. After graduating from the University of New South Wales, she worked as an actor for a time, appearing in both Australian and English television series. Having worked under her father for a period of 15 years, Waterhouse was granted an Australian Jockey Club (AJC) licence in 1992, and trained her first Group One (G1) winner later that year. In 1994, after her father became ill, she took over his Tulloch Lodge stable, and she has since trained 145 G1 winners and won seven Sydney trainers' premierships. She was also the trainer of Fiorente, the winner of the 2013 Melbourne Cup, becoming the third woman (and first Australian woman) to train a winner of that race. Adam Hyeronimus is an Australian professional jockey who has ridden in 3,668 horse races for 484 wins. Early life Hyeronimus was born in Caloundra in Queensland and is the son of champion jockey Craig Hyeronimus and grandson of champion jockey Reg Paine.
