The Central African Republic (CAR) is a landlocked country in Central Africa. Joseph Akouissone
Joseph Akouissonne (1 January 1943 – 15 February 2019) was a Central African film director, actor, and journalist. Biography Early life and education Akouissone was born in Bangassou in 1943. He completed his secondary studies at the Lycée Technique de Bangui. Akouissone moved to France in 1965 to study mathematics and train as an engineer. Instead of continuing on this path, he took Audiovisual courses at the Ecole pratique des Hautes Etudes de Paris X and did a postgraduate thesis under Jean Roach on ethnography. Akouissone made an unfinished film about a potter from Sauveteur de Rouergue. Career In 1975, he directed his first short film, ''Josepha'', on the theme of Black women in Europe. On assignment from the Upper Volta Ministry of Cooperation, Akouissone directed ''Festival de Royan'' in 1977, a half-hour short film about the troupes of musicians and dancers at the festival. 2019 Ouham-Pendé Killings
On 21 May 2019 at least 46 unarmed civilians were killed by rebels from Return, Reclamation, Rehabilitation armed group in Ouham-Pendé prefecture in the Central African Republic including at least 32 in Koundjili and Lemouna and nine in Bohong. Three generals responsible for killing were convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity in 2022. Attacks Lemouna and Koundjili On 21 May 2019, the day of the attack, villagers in Loura reported seeing 14 motorbikes coming from Létélé (where 3R has a base) heading towards Lemouna-Koundjili, but only four returned. Just before noon, 14 motorbikes with around three uniformed elements on each – apart from one non-uniformed element - stopped in Lemouna village. Measles (probably from Middle Dutch or Middle High German ''masel(e)'', meaning "blemish, blood blister") is a highly contagious, Vaccine-preventable diseases, vaccine-preventable infectious disease caused by Measles morbillivirus, measles virus. January 2019 Bambari Clashes
In January 2019, a series of clashes occurred in the town of Bambari in the Central African Republic between Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC) rebels against government and United Nations Peacekeeping forces. The clashes cumulated in Operation BEKPA 2, when United Nations forces, including Portuguese and Bangladeshi special operations forces and Nepalese Peacekeepers launched an offensive operation to secure the town. History On January 10, 2019, UPC rebels using "heavy weaponry" launched an attack on the town of Bambari in an attempt to seize resources and to extort the local population by collecting their taxes. After the killing of two police officers and the injuring of a third, Portuguese Paratroopers deployed to the town and engaged the enemy in order to protect civilians and to restore order, the clash lasted five hours and was fought alongside Central African Forces and reportedly Russian mercenaries. President Of The Central African Republic
This article lists the heads of state of the Central African Republic. There have been seven heads of state of the Central African Republic and the Central African Empire since independence was obtained from the French on 13 August 1960. This list includes not only those persons who were sworn into office as President of the Central African Republic, but also those who served as ''de facto'' heads of state. Jean-Bédel Bokassa served as a ''de facto'' head of state (and also reigned as Emperor from 1976 to 1979), while David Dacko (who served as ''de facto'' head of state from 1979 to 1981), André Kolingba, Ange-Félix Patassé, and François Bozizé were elected into office at some point during their tenures. To date, Kolingba is the only former head of state of the Central African Republic to voluntarily step down from the office through a democratic process, following the 1993 general election. The current president is Faustin-Archange Touadéra, since 30 March 2016.

Wagner Group
The Wagner Group (), officially known as PMC Wagner (, ), is a Russian state-funded private military company (PMC) controlled 2023 Wagner Group plane crash, until 2023 by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a former close ally of Russia's president Vladimir Putin, and since then by Pavel Prigozhin. The Wagner Group has used infrastructure of the Russian Armed Forces.
