Namibia (, ), officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country in Southern Africa. Its western border is the Atlantic Ocean. It shares land borders with Zambia and Angola to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south and east. Peter Shivute
Peter Sam Shivute (born 25 September 1963) is a Namibian judge who is currently serving as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Namibia since 1 December 2004. He is the first black Namibian to be appointed to this position. Early life and education Shivute was born in Ovamboland in South West Africa (Present day Namibia). At the age of 16 he went into exile, continuing his secondary school education in Zambia. While still in Zambia, he received a Diploma in Legal Studies with distinction in 1986. He left Zambia for the United Kingdom where he obtained an LLB (Honors) from Trinity Hall College, University of Cambridge in 1991. After working in now independent Namibia for four years he returned to the UK to complete the LLM from University of Warwick in 1996. Immanuel Kauluma Elifas
Omukwaniilwa Immanuel Kauluma Elifas (born.c. 1 January 1934 Epale – 26 March 2019 Onandjokwe) was a chief of the Ondonga, a sub-tribe of Owambo people since 28 August 1975, in Namibia having succeeded his brother the late Chief Fillemon Elifas Shuumbwa who was gunned down the same year at Onamagongwa. The Ondonga tribal area is situated around Namutoni on the eastern edge of Etosha pan in northern Namibia. Kauluma was also the Chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders for many years. He was succeeded as King by the designate Omukwaniilwa of Ondonga, his great-grandson Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo. Hanno Rumpf
Hanno Burkhard Rumpf (15 September 1958 – 8 February 2019) was a Namibian politician (SWAPO) and diplomat. Early life Rumpf, the son of well-known farmer and right-wing National Party member Ernst Rumpf, grew up on the Combumbi parental farm in the community of Steinhausen. He received his secondary education in Swakopmund and studied political science, African history and economics at Rhodes University and Rand Afrikaans University in South Africa. During his studies, Rumpf was active in the progressive student movement and briefly secretary-general of the Namibian student movement. Rumpf was in the early 1980s one of the few white members of SWAPO. Because he did not want to do military service with the South African armed forces, he went into exile in 1984. Major General Petrus "Peter" Kagadhinwa Nambundunga (3 June 1947, Onesi Constituency – 14 January 2019, Ongwediva) was a Namibian military commander. Nambundunga was appointed the commander of the army in 2005, replacing Martin Shalli when he was promoted to chief of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF). Early life and exile Nambundunga was born as one of nine children of Reverend Paavo Nambundunga on 3 June 1947 in Onesi in the Onesi Constituency in Ovamboland (today Omusati Region). He completed school at Oshigambo High School and then moved to Windhoek, where he worked at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). The Chief Justice of Namibia, sometimes also referred to as the Judge President, is the head of the Supreme Court of Namibia, the highest appellate court in Namibia. It is the highest post in the Namibian judicial system, presiding over the operation of the supreme court. The position was created on 21 March 1990, the day of Namibian independence, along with the foundation of the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice is responsible for the swearing-in of members of the National Assembly as well as the president of Namibia, and further for the safekeeping of the presidential symbols of the power (constitution, seal of state, and national flag) during the handover from one president to another. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah (born 29 October 1952) is a Namibian politician who is the Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia since March 2015. She has also been serving as Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation since December 2012. From March 2010 to December 2012, she was Minister of Environment and Tourism. Nandi-Ndaitwah is a member of SWAPO, Namibia's ruling party, and a long-time member of the National Assembly. In 2017, Nandi-Ndaitwah was elected vice-president of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress. She is the first woman to serve in that position.
