A general election was held in the U.S. state of Louisiana on October 12, 2019, with a runoff on November 16, 2019, for races in which no candidate was able to secure an absolute majority. Louisiana ( ; ; ) is a state in the Deep South and South Central regions of the United States. It borders Texas to the west, Arkansas to the north, and Mississippi to the east. Tim Temple
Timothy Temple (born 1969 or 1970) is an American politician from Louisiana. He has served as the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner since January 2024. Temple graduated from DeRidder High School in DeRidder, Louisiana, and Southern Methodist University. After graduating, he became an insurance agent. He became the president of Temptan, a family-owned company. In 2019, Temple ran against Jim Donelon for Louisiana Insurance Commissioner in the 2019 election. Donelon won reelection. Temple ran again in the 2023 election. Donelon opted not to run for reelection and Temple's only challenger dropped out of the race in August. Jim Donelon
James Joseph Donelon III is an American politician. He served as the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner from 2006 to 2024. He previously served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1981 to 2001. Early life and education Donelon grew up in New Orleans and attended Jesuit High School. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans and his Juris Doctor from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Political career Donelon began his career in public office serving on the Jefferson Parish Council from 1978 to 1980. From 1982 to 2001, he served as a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. A general election was held in the U.S. state of Louisiana on October 24, 2015. All of Louisiana's executive officers, in addition to both houses of the Louisiana State Legislature were up for election. Under Louisiana's Nonpartisan blanket primary#Louisiana open primary, jungle primary system, all candidates appeared on the same ballot, regardless of party and voters voted for any candidate, regardless of their party affiliation. The Louisiana State Treasurer special election took place on October 14, 2017, to elect the state treasurer of Louisiana, with a runoff election to be held on November 18, 2017, if necessary. Incumbent Republican Party (United States), Republican State Treasurer John Neely Kennedy, John Kennedy was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016.
