2018 In Cue Sports
In 2018, championships were held across three continents to determine the best players in major cue sports, including snooker, pool (cue sports), pool, and English billiards. While these are mostly single player sports, some matches and tournaments are held as either doubles or as team events. The snooker season runs between May and April; the pool and billiards seasons run through the calendar year. Emma Bonney is an English world champion player of English billiards, and snooker player. She has won the women's world billiards title a record thirteen times. Emma Bonney is the only player to be ranked number 1 in the world at both snooker and billiards at the same time. Biography Bonney was born on 13 July 1976 in Portsmouth. Reanne Evans (born 25 October 1985) is an English professional snooker player who competes on the World Women's Snooker Tour and the professional World Snooker Tour. She is the number one ranked player on the women's tour, and regularly features as a pundit on televised snooker coverage. Evans competed in her first women's world championship in 2002, aged 16, when she reached the semi-finals. She went on to become the most successful female player in snooker history. Peter Gilchrist (born 1968 in Middlesbrough) is an English-born Singaporean English billiards player. He won the World Billiards Championship (English billiards) in 1994, 2001, and 2013 (long format), and 2019. Career Peter Gilchrist played in Teesside Boys Billiards League as a youth. he was the English Amateur Champion in 1988. The 2018 Mosconi Cup, (also known as Mosconi Cup XXV) was the 25th edition of the annual nine-ball pool competition between teams representing Europe and the United States. It took place between 4–7 December 2018 at the Alexandra Palace in London, England and was sponsored by partypoker. The reigning champions were team Europe, who had won the last eight cups, including the 2017 Mosconi Cup 11–4. The event was played with teams of 5, decided by captains, and also performances in the tour. Mark Allen (born 22 February 1986) is a Northern Irish professional snooker player from Antrim. He won the World Amateur Championship in 2004, turned professional the following year, and took only three seasons to reach the top 16. The 2018 Masters (officially the 2018 Dafabet Masters) was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place between 14 and 21 January 2018 in London, England, and the second Triple Crown event of the 2017–18 snooker season. The 2018 UK Championship (also known as the 2018 Betway UK Championship for sponsorship reasons) was a professional ranking snooker tournament, that took place from 27 November to 9 December 2018. It was the ninth ranking tournament and the first Triple Crown event of the 2018/2019 season. The event was broadcast on BBC Sport and Eurosport in the United Kingdom.
