2018 In Cue Sports
In 2018, championships were held across three continents to determine the best players in major cue sports, including snooker, pool, and English billiards. While these are mostly single player sports, some matches and tournaments are held as either doubles or as team events. The snooker season runs between May and April; the pool and billiards seasons run through the calendar year. Four men's adult world championships were held in 2018, Mark Williams won the World Snooker Championship, Joshua Filler holding the WPA World Nine-ball Championship, Sourav Kothari the World Billiards Championship (English billiards), World Billiards Championship, and Dick Jaspers winning the UMB World Three-cushion Championship. Emma Bonney is an English world champion player of English billiards, and snooker player. She has won the World Women's Billiards Championship title a record thirteen times. Emma Bonney is the only player to be ranked number 1 in the world at both snooker and billiards at the same time. Biography Bonney was born on 13 July 1976 in Portsmouth. Reanne Evans
Reanne Evans (born 25 October 1985) is an English professional snooker player and regular pundit on televised snooker broadcasts. Widely recognised as the most successful female player in the sport's history, she has won the World Women's Snooker Championship a record 12 times and is the reigning World Mixed Doubles champion (with Luca Brecel). She received an MBE in the 2020 Birthday Honours for her services to women's snooker. Born in Dudley, West Midlands, Evans began playing snooker at age 13. Peter Gilchrist (billiards Player)
Peter Gilchrist (born 1968) is a Singaporean billiards player. He won the World Billiards Championship (English billiards) in 1994, 2001, and 2013 (long format), 2019, and 2023. Career Gilchrist played in Teesside Boys Billiards League as a youth. he was the English Amateur Champion in 1988. Gilchrist won the World Billiards Championship (English billiards) in 1994, 2001, 2013 (long format) 2019, and 2023. He also won the International Billiards and Snooker Federation World Championship in 2015 (short format), 2016 and 2019 (long up). In 2003, Gilchrist moved to Singapore to become the national billiards and snooker coach. In team sports, a most valuable player (MVP) award is an honor typically bestowed upon an individual (or individuals, in the instance of a tie) whose individual performance is the greatest in an entire league, for a particular competition, or on a specific team. The purpose of the award is to recognize the contribution of the individual's efforts amongst a group effort, and to highlight the excellence, exemplariness, and/or outstandingness of a player's performance amidst the performance of their peers in question. The term can have different connotations depending on the context in which it is used. A 'League MVP' is the most valuable player in an entire league, and refers to the player whose performance is most excellent in the league.
