Chairman Of The Scottish Land Court
The Scottish Land Court () is a Scottish court of law based in Edinburgh with subject-matter jurisdiction covering disputes between landlords and tenants relating to agricultural tenancies, and matters related to crofts and crofters. The Scottish Land Court is both a trial court and an appeal court; hearings at first-instance are often heard by a Divisional Court of one of the Agricultural Members advised by the Principal Clerk. Decisions of the Divisional Court can be appealed to the Full Court, which will consist of at least one legally qualified judicial member and the remaining Agricultural Member. Some cases are heard at first-instance by the Full Court, and these cases may be appealed to the Inner House of the Court of Session. Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Act 2012
The Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Act 2012 is an Act of the Scottish Parliament, which introduces a Statutory law, statutory minimum price for alcohol, initially 50p per Unit of alcohol, unit, as an element in the programme to counter alcohol problems. The Act was passed with the support of the Scottish National Party, the Scottish Conservatives, Conservatives, the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Liberal Democrats and the Scottish Greens, Greens. The opposition, Scottish Labour, Labour, refused to support the legislation because the Act failed to claw back an estimated £125m windfall profit from alcohol retailers. Phil Gormley
Philip Michael Christopher Gormley, (born 8 March 1963) is a British former senior police officer. He is the current CEO for EACH (East Anglia Childrens Hospices) based in Norfolk, England. Early life Gormley was born on 8 March 1963 in Redhill, Surrey, England. He was educated at John Fisher Grammar School, an all-boys Catholic school in Purley, London. He studied English and history at the University of Gloucestershire, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1984. He later undertook postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge, completing a postgraduate diploma. Loony Dook
The Loony Dook is an annual event held on New Year's Day in which people dive into the freezing waters of the Firth of Forth at South Queensferry (north of Edinburgh, Scotland), often in fancy dress. Course of events On New Year's Day, typically in the morning (but times vary according to tides), Many dookers first take part in the Dookers' Fancy Dress Parade, leading from the Hawes car park to the old mole. Spectators cheer on the participants at various vantage points. The Dookers are then greeted by bagpipe pipers and warmed with bowls of "energising porridge", prior to plunging themselves into the freezing Firth of Forth.
