2018 In English Cricket
The 2018 English cricket season ran between 1 April and 27 September 2018 and was the 119th in which the County Championship has been an official competition. It featured first-class cricket, first-class, List A cricket, one-day and Twenty20 cricket competitions throughout England and Wales. The season saw men's international tours by Pakistan national cricket team, Pakistan, Australia national cricket team, Australia and India national cricket team, India, with Pakistan and India playing Test cricket, Test matches against England cricket team, England. The South Africa women's national cricket team, South African and New Zealand women's national cricket team, New Zealand women's teams also toured England, each playing three Women's One Day International cricket, One Day International matches against the England women's cricket team. 2018 County Championship
The 2018 County Championship, known as the 2018 Specsavers County Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the 119th cricket County Championship season. As in 2017, Division One has eight teams and Division Two has ten teams, with two teams relegated and two promoted at the end of the season. The first round of matches began on 13 April and the final round of matches were scheduled to end on 27 September. Most of the matches of the Championship were played as day matches, although each team played one day-night match during the season. In September 2018, the match between Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset and Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire at Taunton finished as a tie (cricket), tie. Loughborough Lightning (women's Cricket)
Loughborough Lightning were an English women's Twenty20 cricket team based at Loughborough University. They were formed in 2016 to compete in the inaugural season of the Women's Cricket Super League. They primarily played their home matches at the Haslegrave Ground. They were coached by Rob Taylor and were captained by Georgia Elwiss. The team was partnered with Loughborough University. Together with the netball team and the women's rugby union team, the cricket team was one of three women's sports teams based at Loughborough University that used the Loughborough Lightning name. Heather Knight (cricketer)
Heather Clare Knight (born 26 December 1990) is an English international cricketer and former captain of the England women's cricket team. She is a right-handed batter and right arm off spin bowler. Knight played in her 100th Women's One Day International match for England in December 2019. Early life Knight was born on 26 December 1990 in Rochdale and was educated at Plymstock School, a state secondary school in Plymouth, Devon. She was offered a place at the University of Cambridge to study natural sciences, but turned it down so that she would have the time to play cricket. Shai Diego Hope (born 10 November 1993) is a Barbadian cricketer, who plays as a wicketkeeper-batsman for the West Indies cricket team. He is also the current ODI &T20I captain of the Windies. Joseph Liam Denly (born 16 March 1986) is an English professional cricketer who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman and occasional leg break bowler who plays as a top-order batsman. Denly played age group cricket for Kent and began his professional career with the county before moving to Middlesex for three seasons between 2012 and 2014. Providence Ann Courtenay Cowdrill (born 31 March 1999) is an English cricketer who plays as a right-arm leg break bowler. She has played for Hampshire and Southern Vipers. Early life Cowdrill was born on 31 March 1999 in Frimley, Surrey. Domestic career Cowdrill made her county debut in 2015, for Hampshire against Devon, and took 3/7 from 1.5 overs. 2018 Women's Twenty20 Cup
The 2018 Women's Twenty20 Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2018 Vitality Women's Twenty20 Cup was the 10th cricket Women's Twenty20 Cup tournament. It took place in June and July, with 36 teams taking part: 34 county teams plus Scotland and Wales. Middlesex Women won the Twenty20 Cup, as winners of Division 1, therefore achieving their first title. The tournament followed the 50-over 2018 Women's County Championship, and was subsequently followed by the Twenty20 2018 Women's Cricket Super League, competed for by regional teams. Suzie Bates
Suzannah Wilson Bates (born 16 September 1987) is a New Zealand cricketer and former captain of national women cricket team. Born in Dunedin, she plays domestic cricket for the Otago Sparks, as well as for the White Ferns. She currently holds the highest score and highest batting average in the New Zealand Women's Twenty20 cricket team. She won the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2013. The Yorkshire Women's cricket team is the women's cricket team for the English historic county of Yorkshire. They play their home games at Headingley Stadium, Leeds, and are captained by Lauren Winfield-Hill.
