Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix () is a Formula One motor racing event. The first race took place on 1 November 2009, held at the Hermann Tilke-designed Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, near Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island is over the short strait between turn 13 and 14. It was announced in early 2007 at the Abu Dhabi F1 Festival. On 25 June 2008, the FIA announced the provisional Formula One calendar including the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as the 19th and final race of the season on 15 November. On 5 November 2008, however, it was announced that the race would be held as the season finale on 1 November, two weeks before the initially planned date, as the 17th and final race. The event has been held every year since, and is due to take place at the Yas Marina Circuit until at least 2030. Director-General Of The BBC
The director-general of the British Broadcasting Corporation is chief executive and (from 1994) editor-in-chief of the BBC. The post-holder was formerly appointed by the Board of Governors of the BBC (for the period 1927 to 2007) and then the BBC Trust (from 2007 to 2017). Since 2017 the director-general has been appointed by the BBC Board. To date, 17 individuals have been appointed director-general, plus an additional two who were appointed in an acting capacity only. The current director-general is Tim Davie, who succeeded Tony Hall, Baron Hall of Birkenhead, Tony Hall on 1 September 2020. BBC Trust
The BBC Trust was the governing body of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) between 2007 and 2017. It was operationally independent of BBC management and external bodies, and its stated aim was to make decisions in the best interests of licence-fee payers. On 12 May 2016, it was announced in the House of Commons that, under the next royal charter, the regulatory functions of the BBC Trust were to be transferred to Ofcom. The trust was established by the 2007 BBC Charter, which came into effect on 1 January in that year. The trust, and a formalised Executive Board, replaced the former Board of Governors. The decision to establish the trust followed the Hutton Inquiry, which had heavily criticised the BBC for its coverage of the death of David Kelly; Labour's political opponents, as well as large numbers of its supporters, saw the Hutton Inquiry as a whitewash, designed to deflect criticism from Tony Blair's government. David Clementi
Sir David Cecil Clementi (born 25 February 1949) is a British business executive. He is a former deputy governor of the Bank of England, a former chairman of Prudential plc, and a former chairman of the BBC. In March 2008, he was announced as warden of Winchester College and, in 2010, was Master of the Mercers' Company. Early life David Cecil Clementi was born on 25 February 1949. His father, Cresswell Clementi, was an air vice-marshal in the Royal Air Force. His grandfather Sir Cecil Clementi was Governor of Hong Kong from 1925 to 1930 and Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Straits Settlements from 1930 to 1934. The Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom and the model on which most modern central banks have been based. Established in 1694 to act as the Kingdom of England, English Government's banker and debt manager, and still one of the bankers for the government of the United Kingdom, it is the world's second oldest central bank. The bank was privately owned by stockholders from its foundation in 1694 until it was nationalised in 1946 by the Attlee ministry. The Voice (UK)
''The Voice UK'' is a British singing reality competition television series. Created by John de Mol and Roel van Velzen, it premiered on BBC One on 24 March 2012. Based on the original Dutch singing competition ''The Voice of Holland'', and part of ''The Voice '' franchise, it has aired thirteen series and aims to find currently unsigned singing talent (solo, duets, trios or professional and amateur) contested by aspiring singers, drawn from public auditions. Presented by Emma Willis since 2014, it was previously presented by Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates from 2012 to 2013 and Marvin Humes from 2014 to 2016. The winners receive a recording contract with Universal Music Group. Let It Shine (2017 TV Series)
''Let It Shine'' is a British reality television music competition to find young men to star in ''The Band'', a new stage musical featuring the songs of Take That. It aired in January and February 2017 on BBC One. In 2018, the BBC announced that ''Let It Shine'' has been cancelled after one series. The show was presented by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc, with Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp serving as judges throughout the series. Amber Riley was the guest judge for the auditions, followed by Lulu for the group round. Ricki Lake was the guest judge for the first live show, Ashley Roberts for the semi-final and Peter Kay for the final. The show was won by the band Five to Five, who won the part as the band in the new musical ''The Band'', which began touring in September 2017. BBC Two
BBC Two is a British free-to-air Public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is the corporation's second flagship channel, and it covers a wide range of subject matter, incorporating genres such as comedy, drama and documentaries. BBC Two has a remit "to broadcast highbrow, programmes of depth and substance" in contrast to the more mainstream and popular BBC One. Like the BBC's other domestic TV and radio channels, it is funded by the television licence, and is therefore free of commercial advertising. Camelot Group was an operator of lotteries, particularly the UK National Lottery from 1994 to 2024. It has also operated the Illinois State Lottery in the state of Illinois in the United States since 2018.
