2016–17 Pro12
The 2016–17 Pro12 (also known as the ''Guinness Pro12'' for sponsorship reasons) was the sixteenth season of the professional rugby union competition originally known as the Celtic League, and the seventh with a four-country format. It was the third season to be referred to as the ''Guinness Pro12''. The twelve competing teams were the four Irish teams: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster; two Italian teams: Treviso and Zebre; two Scottish teams: Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors and four Welsh teams: Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets. The first stage involved the 12 teams playing home and away in a league format with the top four sides qualifying for the semi-finals. The semi-finals were one-off matches with 1st playing 4th and 2nd playing 3rd, with the higher ranked team receiving home advantage. Scarlets
The Scarlets () are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Their home ground is the Parc y Scarlets stadium. They play in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions. The club was originally named the Llanelli Scarlets but was renamed at the start of the 2008–09 rugby season. The Llanelli Scarlets were founded in 2003, as one of the five (now four) regional teams created by the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU). The Scarlets are affiliated with a number of semi-professional and amateur clubs throughout the area, including Welsh Premier Division sides Llanelli RFC, Carmarthen Quins RFC and Llandovery RFC. Glasgow Warriors
The Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. In the 2014–15 season they won the Pro12 title and became the first Scottish team to win a major trophy in rugby union's professional era. In 2023-24 they became the first Scottish side to win the United Rugby Championship in its current form. The side is known for its fast, dynamic and attacking style of play, using offloads and quick rucks. Defensively the club prides itself on its 'Fortress Scotstoun' where the club play at home. Danny Wilson (rugby Union)
Danny Wilson is a professional rugby union coach and former player. He is Head coach at Harlequins. He was previously a head coach at Glasgow Warriors. He was born in the West Country in Somerset, near Weston-super-Mare, England. As a player he turned out at Hooker. Playing career Amateur career Wilson began playing rugby union for a couple of Weston-super-Mare sides; Hornets and Weston-super-Mare. Stadio Comunale Di Monigo
Stadio Comunale di Monigo is a sports stadium in the Monigo frazione of Treviso, Italy. The stadium is used for rugby union, and is the home ground for Benetton. The stadium has a total capacity of , divided between the two covered stands: the Tribuna Ovest (West Stand), seated with seats, and the Tribuna Est (East Stand), seated with seats. The Tribuna Ovest was the only originally covered stand, in fact the East Stand was renovated in 2018, increasing the capacity and building a cover. On the occasion of the test match between Italy and Scotland which was played there on 24 January 1998, the capacity was expanded to approximately seats thanks to the installation of some temporary stands at the sides of the permanent ones. Kieran Crowley
Kieran James Crowley (born 31 August 1961) is a New Zealand rugby union coach and former player, who is the former head coach of Italy. He has also coached the New Zealand Under-19s in the 2007 World Championships as well as coaching provincial side Taranaki. He previously served as head coach of Canada. He also spent five seasons coaching Benetton Rugby. He is a former member of the New Zealand All Blacks where he played as a fullback. Early life Crowley was born in Kaponga, New Zealand. Aviva Stadium, also known as Lansdowne Road (, ) or Dublin Arena (during UEFA competitions), is a List of stadiums in Ireland by capacity, sports stadium located in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, with a capacity for 51,711 spectators (all seated). 2017 Pro12 Grand Final
The 2017 Pro12 Grand Final was the final match of the 2016–17 Pro12 season. The 2016–17 season was the third with Guinness as the title sponsor and the eighth ever League Grand Final. The final was played at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The game was contested by Scarlets and Munster with Scarlets winning 46–22. Route to the final 2017 Playoffs The semi-finals followed a 1 v 4, 2 v 3 system with the games being played at the home ground of the higher placed teams.
