2015 UCI Europe Tour
The 2015 UCI Europe Tour was the eleventh season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2015 season began on 29 January 2015 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 25 October 2015 with the Tour of Aegean. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Tom Van Asbroeck of Belgium is the defending champion of the 2014 UCI Europe Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Manuel Belletti
Manuel Belletti (born 14 October 1985) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer, who last rode for UCI ProTeam . He took a total of 21 professional wins during his career, nine of them on Italian soil. Career Belletti was born in Cesena. Early career The first time Belletti showed his cycling skills to the public was when he participated at the 2004 Italian National Track Championships where he and his team mates Loris Gobbi, Alan Marangoni and Matteo Montaguti cycled to second position at the team pursuit. Nearly two years later he booked his first success in road cycling, with when he finished third in the San Bernardino di Lugo and second in the San Donà di Piave. His first win came in the Giro Ciclisto Pesche Nettarine di Romagna where he won the first part of the fourth stage with the finish in Lugo, Emilia-Romagna. 2015 Trofeo Laigueglia
The 2015 Trofeo Laigueglia was the 52nd edition of the Trofeo Laigueglia road cycling race. For the first time, the race was ranked as a 1.HC race by the UCI. It was part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour and was held on 19 February 2015. The 2014 champion was José Serpa (), but he was not selected to defend his title. Philippe Gilbert () had intended to start the race, but a stomach illness caused his withdrawal. Favourites for victory in the race included Moreno Moser and Dan Martin (both ), Oscar Gatto (), Damiano Cunego () and Fabio Felline (Italy). The race was hilly throughout, with two difficult climbs in the final , including the difficult climb of Colla Micheri. The race was won by Davide Cimolai (), from a 24-man sprint. This was the third year in a row that a Lampre cyclist had won the race, following Serpa in 2014 and Filippo Pozzato in 2013. It was Cimolai's first ever professional victory. Geraint Howell Thomas, ( , ; born 25 May 1986) is a Welsh professional racing cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam , Wales and Great Britain. He is one of the few riders in the modern era to achieve significant elite success as both a track and road rider, with notable victories in the velodrome, in one-day racing and in stage racing. On the track, he has won three World Championships ( 2007, 2008, and 2012), and two Olympic gold medals ( 2008 and 2012), while on the road he won the 2018 Tour de France becoming the first Welshman and third British rider to win it. 2015 Volta Ao Algarve
The 2015 Volta ao Algarve was the 41st running of the Volta ao Algarve road cycling stage race. It was rated as a 2.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour and took place from 18 to 22 February 2015 in the Algarve region of Portugal. The race consisted of five stages, including one summit finish (at Alto do Malhão) and one Individual time trial. The defending champion was Michał Kwiatkowski of , who won two stages of the 2014 Volta ao Algarve. The 2015 race was won by Geraint Thomas of . He took the lead with victory in a solo breakaway on stage 2, then defended his lead with third place in the time trial and fourth place on the summit finish. He ended the race 27 seconds ahead of Kwiatkowski, with Tiago Machado () in third place. Chris Froome
Christopher Clive Froome, (; born 20 May 1985) is a British professional road racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . He has won seven Grand Tours: four editions of the Tour de France (in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017), one Giro d'Italia (2018) and the Vuelta a España twice (2011Awarded in 2019 following the disqualification of original winner Juan José Cobo and 2017). 2015 Vuelta A Andalucía
The 2015 Vuelta a Andalucía (also known as the Ruta del Sol) was the 61st running of the Vuelta a Andalucía cycling stage race. It was rated as a 2.1 event on the 2015 UCI Europe Tour and was held from 18 to 22 February 2015, in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. Although the race lasted five days, there were six stages, with the first day split between two stages. The previous three editions of the Vuelta a Andalucía had been won by Alejandro Valverde (), but he chose to begin his season at the 2015 Tour of Oman instead. Chris Froome () and Alberto Contador () both chose to begin their 2015 seasons in Andalusia. Nairo Quintana () also intended to start his season at this race, but he pulled out following a crash.
